Broken exterior Door Handle

Hey guys, thought I'd see if anyone had any experience fixing/replacing the door handle on their 7... I have an 86 and the driver's side exterior door handle has broken. The broken part is the tab inside the door that pushes down on the rod that unlatches the door when you lift the handle. I can open the door from the inside, but I'd like to get things fixed.

It looks like I'll have to find a replacement handle (junk yard?) and somehow get the old one out and the new one in, but it's a really tight space to work in..

Suggestions? Tales of experience?

Many thanks..

Really easy to do. Get a new door handle, then remove the door panel (a few screws, carefully pry it up). Use a small 10MM socket wrench to remove the two bolts that hold on the handle after you unclip all the rods. Pushes right out.

You should just call the mazda dealer and buy a new one b/c once you get a used one and paint it, it will probably be the same price as a new one from the the dealer. and the dealer gives you a 1 year warranty. i think i paid $85CDN from the dealer.

I already broke my driver side twice and the passenger once, actually my friend broke the passenger side one.

i found it easy to get out if you open the handle when your taking it out, but since the handle is broke push down the piece that broke off the handle and then pull it out.
