i was wondering who has the cheepest rebuild kit?? i saw the rebuild kit on mazdatrix and that was a hell of alot. besides why would it be so expensive to rebuild a rotory it has less parts in it im going to rebuilf my 93 jimmy and its gonna cost $140 for the whole kit and if i want new pistions it would be $350. when i rebuild an rx-7 i would like to put 3mm apex seals on it so does anyone know where you can get the a rebuild kit with3mm apex seals??

 

yeah you'll have to mill the rotors for 3mm, and that's about $150 a rotor. for just the gaskets try www.atkinsrotary.com it'll be about $1k for a good kit. good luck, and if you wanted cheap, get a tempo.

Because the parts are not as widely used. GMC uses the same rings and seals in all of its engines, as well as any other GM car. The kits are massed produced and cost alot less to manufacture. The rotary kits are only made for 1 engine and are not in such high demand, so the production drops and costs go up.

I recommend that you get 2 piece 2 mm apex seals unless the gap is beyond factory specs.

is that all you need and could you get buy with the basic kit or would you need a master kit???

 

The best thing to do is tear down first and check your clearances as required. Some engines will reqiure the master because more parts are shot. Its really a case by case basis. This way you can buy what you need.

 

i ordered from rotaryaviation, they've got the lowest prices around...i got the basic kit, so i reused my side seals, corner seals etc..also ordered an gasket kit and oil pump chain for 26US. They shipped via UPS.

I've never dealt with them, but heard good things about them at the "Sun & Fun" fly in.

 

I keep hearing good things about rotary aviation and am going to get my rebuild kit from them.I am also going to get their rebuild video. I heard its the same one as atkins.

 

i think i may get the O-ring kit for $153 and the 13b rotary installation gasket kit for $45.25 and buy the 3mm apex seals somewhere else. so where can i get some cheep 3mm apex seals?
also what type of material is the best when running it on a street ported dayly driver?

im gonna try and go 3mm and you can get diff materials like carbon and steel.

im pretty sure carbon seals are the soft seals that shatter into little soft non-abrasive pieces that dont damage your housings as much or at all compared to stock mazda seals. However i also belive they break much easier

 

eraumazda im going to go with 3mm because they hold up better under more stress. i like your responses huh?, mazda apex seals, why. crackheadme yea i think thats the diff really i think carbon seals seal better and dont wear the housing as much but break easer so dont last as long.
