Smile bye bye FI hello Carb

I would like to find a carb and intake for a 13B. Willing to trade my FI with $$$ for an intake and carb. BTW it's off an 88-91 JSPEC TII. Don't ask why, I just like carbs better than FI. Also does anyone know if there are any products out there to connect my turbo to the carb I will be putting on?

Haltechs are going for under $1k now, and for a bit more you can get a plug and play version for the TII. Price out that carb set-up and then ask those guys w/ carbed turbos if they would be interested in trading you their set-up for a Haltech. See what they say...

If you buy a regular carb, you do know you have to have it modified for a blowthrough setup, right? Also the inlet box for the carb isn't very cheap at all.

In my opinion. Carbs are great for Na's. But a turbo requires a little more percision. If I was going to modify a turbo car that I wanted to keep for awhile I would go with a Haltech or SDS EFI.

Listen to these words of wisdom. There is nothing a carb can do that EFI can't do better. It may cost a little more, but the results are more than worth it.

It's kinda spendy, but atkins rotary makes a SC for carb'd 13B's.

There IS something wrong...

The stock FI was not working right, and the owner doesn't want to fix it.
The owner has no clue on what they are doing.
The owner feels more comfortable with a carb.

Going carb AND turbo just threw your daily driveability out the window...

Agreed..
Booting up a laptop and hooking up a serial cable is by far easier than sitting on a milkcrate drilling jets, filing metering rods and measuring springs, with the advances in efi and it now being a backyardable device, going to a carb is just shear insanity...Max

Hahaha! I was about to say the same thing...Or some dumb mechanic couldn't figure out the TII fuel system and decided he'd rather have the customer spend the money on a carb instead...

And your reasons are?
(I just love these debates!)
EFI will offer the same performance and some little extras.&nbsp Can you explain to me what you're talking about as "best set up"?

The thread turned into a discussion of FI versus carb.

I don't think I need to do this, but just in case...
"the best set up is a blow-thru webber
Down-Draft 48MM-51MM
(holly carb (get a marine one 650 cfm)"

There was NO mention of this being the best CARB set-up.&nbsp You just said set-up, which implies best over EVERYTHING.
