Spongy Brakes.......
Spongy Brakes.......
Hi I am new to the forums and i have a 1990 second gen that has been sitting for over a year. About 6 months ago i changed the brakes and now the pedal is spongy. I did not open the lines up wwhen i changed the pads, and i even had them bled with no change in the pedal. I think its a master cylinder of booster problem anyone got any ideas or had this problem before? Please let me know need to get my baby running again. Thanks.....
With the car running, press firmly on the brake pedal and hold it. If the pedal slowly sinks to the floor, it's your Master cylinder. If it stays firm, you need to bleed your lines again. When my brake fluid got old, I had to bleed every corner twice before the pedal firmed back up.
The master cyl for the NA FC isn't real expensive. It must been shared with other models.
At http://www.discountautoparts.com/ you can get a new one for $65 or a reman for $37.
If you check around your local import parts stores (not the big boys) you'll probably be able to come close in price.
