whos gas light still works?

i recently did all the resoldering jobs on my vert but i still cant get my low fuel light to work right. my series 4 86 sport's fuel warning light broke shortly after i purchased it, also.

everyone chime in and tell me....do you have a fuel warning light that operates properly?

Multiple answers

'85 SE - Works cause replaced with wrecking yard part.
'88 Vert - Works, always has
'91 Vert - Never worked.
'91 Auto Vert - Never worked
'88 with S5 Gas tank retrofit - Never worked

So, I'm wondering if this is a weak link for S5's?

Here is the real challenge. What is the Mazda Part Number for the "silver bullet" sensor mounted on the end of the long wire like mount... aka THE SENSOR???

Once you pull the fuel pump/sensor assembly out of the gas tank, its a simple one or two screw away from being replaced if that part were in hand.

So, I say again. The real question here is what is the Mazda part number for this little trouble maker???

So, not to be missed.....

What IS this little jewel of a sensor part number? This is one repair that is driving me nuts to figure out how to do.

Mine works on my '90 just fine. I can even tell that the sensor is on the driver's side because it comes on with about 1/4 tank and a good hard left turn

Well, when you park your car on an angle like this, it might effect your fuel level readings! just kidding.

Mine has always worked......knock on wood.

HozzmanRX7 - the "sensor" at the fuel pump is at Section 2 G9 of the Parts Catalog. It is part number 60-960A. Called "Gauge, Fuel Tank"

Presumably it feeds the dash gauge. There must be a split off the gauge itself based on the position of the needle going to the idiot light but I could not find it . Hope this helps.

Mine worked great in my 88 GTU, and it doesn't work at all in my S5 TII. My gas gauge works fine, just the light never comes on.

My low gas light works, and I think it works all the time (usually gas it up at 1/4 tank), and the rest of my idiot cluster works too....

Mine work

On the 2 of my FC's I've ever had batteries in, and the friend's car I've had borrowed the last 2 weeks works great as well.

Mine has never worked since I owned the car. All the other guages etc work. Never spent any time looking for why it doesn't work.

Jodoolin....Thanks for the attempt. But, can you (or any one else out there) help clear the confusion further.

Even though they are two separate parts mounted separately, it looks like you have to buy the "gas level float sensor" as well as the "low fuel sensor" as one unit?
