anybody with the BBS 'vert wheels (15" x 6.5") have any problems or other issues running with a 225/50-15 tire?

Or is everyone using the stock 205/60-15?

 

I know a guy that runs 245's on his stock T2 rims (7" wide) and thinks thats OK. Well, sure, it's a free country and all. I run 225/50 on 8" rims. It seems to work well. Instead of going wider, get less user friendly, stickier tires.

I'm getting a set of vert rims with in the next few weeks. You should do a search there have been some good posts on the subject.

I think the max is 225-60-15.

If you go 225-50-15 I think the tire might rub because the sidewall will be sticking out too much.

 

I have 225 50 15's on the stock n/a rims(same size as vert rims). I only have them on the back right now, and 205 60's in the front. I dont have any clearance problems right now. I am going to put 225 50's in the front when I replace those tires.

If your car is not lowered, you wont have a problem with 225 50's in the front.

 

Actually I did do a search, but in all the threads no-one said, "hey I have these and they fit fine without rubbing, I have had them for XXXX+ Miles".

Quite a few said that they were going to try it, or that they thought that the 225/50-15 should fit.

I'd rather get a set of series 5 T2/GTUs rims, and I have a set of 3 16x7 Ronal R-9 wheels that would work perfect when a I find a single replacement rim,

but The crappy tires that the 'vert came with are shot and I spent way more than I was figuring replacing all the other old stuff on the car and putting the T2 motor in- so tire/rim budget is shot for the next couple of months.

 

Actually the 'vert rims are 15x6.5. The GTU/GXL rims are 15x6. Same offset, but its the half inch I am worried about.

 

The tires will fit fine.
One thing to consider is that with a 225, the car may tend to wander a lot more on roads that have slight ruts worn into them. It's nothing major, but can become annoying if all the roads in your area are not flat/level.

The tires will fit. (It did on mine) I have an 87 GXL with the 15x6 rims and I run 225 50 15 all around.

No, my rims are 15 x 6.5" I am not completely sure, but I think the vert rims are the same size.

Wow. those 16 by 7w look aftermarket. If the tires wider does that mean u get better traction or launches. And whats the weight of those turbo rims compared to the verts.

Also my tires are yoko's 215 60 15... The sidewall seems taller than stock... Can someone tell me if this is good for launching.
