Passing the 'shaken'

How hard is it to pass the shaken with a highly modified car? I know here in the states to pass emissions, all i have to do is cough up some extra cash to get my car 'pass'. What also, what all do they check in the shaken? do they actually know what they are looking at? will i fail for an external wastegate vented to atmosphere, no EGR, no charcoal canister...ect. thanx guys.

depends........................

Alot of guys on here will say nope, but you got to have finesse.

I also passed with an external wastegate, no backseat, rollcage, no airpump, big single, no airfilter, feed wide fenders, wide fender pull in rear and thats about it hehe

Also if your car is old, beatup and a general POS!!! Then that hurts your odds alot too. I know some of the cars that are having trouble and I would say hummmm yeah...

I don't think they're as **** as California emissions people, but you need to at least have the emissions actually hooked up (Ie, put your EGR back on), at least to the point where it would pass a smog test.

There IS a reason the companies that make these parts say they're for off-road use only, though...

Other tests include speedo accuracy, headlight allignment, etc...

Also, the shaken itself isn't what's expensive... fixing all the problems they find is what will kill you.

I just passed (Big pat on the back to myself!!!)

Heres a list of my mods:

Suspension, Turbo upgrade, 4" downpipe & exhaust, intercooler, injectors, ecu work, roll cage, 2.0 LSD, all guages, twin plate clutch, twin oilcoolers, aftermarket hood, alum radiator, no air pump, hood pins, battery relocated, and twin dump wastegate to atmosphere.

The removed air pump, wastegate, and hood pins are what gave my big problems. I made block off plates for the wastegate and had my title say "certified tested pumpless" on the bottom. Had to pay for the title change to say the no pump and switch from 4 seater to 2 seater.

JCI can be done like jt-imports said "with finesse.
