Part number for 99'spec-up engine block

Hi all.

Is there anyone who knows if there is a difference, and what it is, on the engine block of the FD3S 99-up model year vs. the "old" pre-99 Model year block?

I am thinking about buying a new replacement block for my 1993 Euro Spec FD from Mazda, but if there is any significant changes on the 99-spec block making it better, I will order it instead. It also has to be interchangeable with the aux I have with little or no mods. (It is all stock btw, Twins, etc)

The partnumber for the Euro spec Fd is : N3A1-02-200 originally with a direct transfer to N3G1-02-200.

Can anyone verify the partnumber for the 99-up engine block?

Thank you in advance.

Note : Before you get on your flame-horn, I ask here bechause it is impossible to get Japan partnumbers anywere but Japan, and the 99 FD was only sold in Japan.

=)

Might be a bit late, fwiw, only appreciable change between early and late long blocks is the metering oil pump, so wouldn't get too wet about it.

Those part nos apply from 12/98 production as well.

Hi.

I didn't get that "wet" over it =)

The numbers match what you get here in Europe as well for your 93 FD since the number change.

I just wanted it verified. How much is a new block over the counter in Japan, and do you actually get a new engine, or is it reman?

Thanks for the replies. Keep them comming =)

Ciao

New not reman - before sales tax I believe.

and that was a typo above, should be short, so not even sure you end up with the new and improved(?) MOP.

You can source the engine cheaper outside Japan bizarrely.

Have a nice day

I believe the cheap(er) engines we get are sourced from a couple of islands off the east coast of Australia, which the local friendly dealership here charges $Aud9K+ for. I'd expect those cheap engines are close to $3k if you could find the original source...before various profit margins, shipping and tax are added in.

This might be an easier solution for you.
