old school in japan ???

ok ok....FC's and FD's are great, but has everyoned forgotten about the 1st gen.
i have an 84 gsl-se in the states and want to bring some stuff back from japan, but everytime i ask an american or even a japanese person about parts for them they all seem to look at me like......uh uh ???? almost as if they dont know that the first gen is actually an rx-7. and YES !!! i know to say or ask for ( SA22C) when asking a japanese person. anyway if anyone has any info on engine parts and especially body parts such as fender flares and hoods please let me know.

yahoo auctions japan could help there. you can find complete cars and strip them too for turbo kits and such. I have seen a few on o-cross. Hope this helps.

There are a literal handful on the roads of Oki. Even less that are worth a look in the junkyards. Mainland is better, but only as a whole. You'd have to do a LOT of traveling to find parts. Yahoo Auctions doesn't have it all.

The only thing worth getting here are geeky parts. The hideous plaid interior and the heavy/narrow rotor wheels come to mind. The 12A-T isn't worth it to make any power. Might seem a lot to the typical anemic 12A, but it's nothing to a 13B N/A that's ported/tuned. Any 12A-T that's pulled from a parts car will most likely not have every part worth holding onto as they're so old and corroded.

The U.S. easily got 90% of all 1st gens. Want 1st gen parts? Old and aftermarket? Get them from the states.

Yeah the SAs are pretty rare over there. I would even more so then the US. RE-amemiya has some stuff, and a couple smaller shops. I just dont have the links for ya..... Go to yahoo.co.jp or msn.co.jp and search SA22 and see what you can find from there.

im not necessarily looking for engine parts or turbos or anything like that (australia would be the place for that). im talking more like rims, hoods and ESPECIALLY diffusers, air dams and fender flares. people in japan have a certain taste when it comes to old school cars. they all either have bolt on fender flares, really deep dish 15'' rims and super agressive looking airdams and diffusers. now i know that the GSL-SE has a front wheel drive like bolt pattern but with a set of fender flares i can afford to have them stick out from the body and get that rear wheel drive wide stance. the rims are usually the ones you would see on HACHI's ( toyota levins/ carolla ) for drifting and other old school cars, but i have yet to see them on a first gen. ive only seen a hand full of first gen's with nice airdams and all of them were in pics. if any one could give me some info on where i can get a hold of some of this old school japanese flavor it would be great

there better be like a 700hp+ 3 rotor thats polished and it also better have some 4 piston caliper BREMBO'S or something.

haha...i think i wrote the wrong price, i dont even remember writing that, there was an orange SA22 in widebody, its been stripped and then pieced back to part. Its got serious mods, but i think it was going for 15,000, still much more than all the FDs at this shop. Ive got some shitting phone pics i will add up later.

I have an amemiya wide body SA with amemiya hood and mirrors rusting away in the backyard here in Saitama. However at the moment it is be negotiated for shipment to California.
I might have another set of SA Amemiya aero mirrors laying around though.
Other than that I ahve a 6 pt cage, some suspension, and a couple weber 48 IDA carb set ups with manifold.

Back to your original post, SA`s are old used cars in japan which equates to basically garbage. If you do manage to find a cheap SA it will only be good for parting out and that is only if the parts you want are not rusted out already. Body kits dont rust all that much but the paint and fiberglass get old brittle and or flimsy.

PM me if you are looking for something in particular that I have or that you might want me to source.

Tom

yeah its tidy, and for the price, Australia has gen 1s that would be more expensive then this. The first gen was the reason i got into rx7s and when i was looking to buy one in aus most were about the 15,000 mark for a turbo.

check my other thread in audio/visual if interested in some more pics of miyoshi cars

damn thats REALY nice. were is this car exactly, i would love to see it in person. im a huge 1st gen fan and would love to see a japanese made custom first gen......they seem to be soo rare over here. do you know if the 13b is N/A or a turbo one......most people over here seem to think that the 1st gens ONLY came with 12a's BUT the 84-85 GSL-SE came with 13b 6ports which is what i got back in the states, although im not sure if that was a U.S only model.........

Here ya GO!!!
Let me restate this car has been sitting for awhile if you cant tell by the pics!

Not sure if this widebody is JSS spec Amemiya widebody or if it is just a Amemiya widebody.

RE Amemiya mirrors

RE Amemiya Hood

The SA/FB 1985 in Japan did not get the 13b 6 port. Instead they got the 12A turbo motor. I have never driven the 12A turbo but I would suspect it to be a pretty responsive engine and quite fun. The 13B GSL-SE is an awesome car though so that 12a turbo would have to be pretty impressive if it was to be better.

in the time ive been around kanto ive never seen a sa22c just driving around, unless it was after a classic car show. Ive owned all rx7s now and I sitll love the feeling of driving the old ones, heres a pic of my 2 from australia.

White one is s2 stock except it runs on LPG. and has targa roof.
blue one is s1, 13b bp, webber. http://www.zippyvideos.com/4026187156574266/100_0524/

The green one is one I found on yahoo auction, even has a porthole for when the tray and wing fills up with water.

all those SA22s look good, but nothing beats the original look with out a kit. They just look so sleek and fast.

Ahh japanese neglect is a wonderful thing...

Potential only for crushing or separating to parts.....

You can buy a fully worked OZ one for not too much. People are very negotiable on their advertised prices.
You would be better off buying the guards only and matching them to a different car..
