Help needed guys...

Im trying to ship my 1966 Volkswagon (RHD) Beetle to the US. I have only got a hold of 1 Japanese company full of MORONS! Saying that I cant import a RHD car unless I change parts. I know the rules and I know im exept for just about 99.99% of the rules, only rule left is a importer and a bond hehe.

Ok does anyone know who the bases use?

Any good exporter/importers, Japan and US? I have the list of importers in the US though via the the registered importer list (WHICH I dont think I need a registered importer)

Any other info would be cool. I had a buttload of links before, but after I decided not to export cars since it was just about impossible for FDs such... I trashed the favorites.

I leave in 2 weeks to the US for work, so the quicker the better on the info, thanks.

Thanks
J

Just to add. On both webpages it clearly states that cars over 25 years of age do not require... Well **** I will just post the info

EPA Bottom of the page

NHTSA Top of the page

So to you guys this sounds like it doesnt matter what drive it is, LEFT, RIGHT, Center.... Right? Sounds to me since it doesnt need to conform it doesnt matter..

I have a couple links for companies that will do freight containers but RORO might be cheaper for you. I don't know who the bases use. If someone else knows, please inform. I think you're looking at probably at least $1500-$2000 by container with everything from what I remember. As for regulations for the US, I don't know.

Yeah I just got 4 or 5 e-mails from a list I e-mailed from the US.CUSTOMS webpage of registered importers and they said I quote

"YOUR CAR IS 25 YEARS OLD, IT DOESNT MATTER IF ITS RHD OR IT DOESNT RUN" HEHEHE

Thanks daem0n, Yeah I actually prefer RORO but I cant find a company that will do it to the US. Please post info..

Yeah I went to Atsugi, and they dont even know who they use, its a contract of a contract so I have to make some calls.

I found 1 container place for $1200 approx and they are pretty cool too, but thats only to LA, I might need to get it to MD.

Here is how one guy imported his car to the states from Oki. Hopefully this might help you out some.

Contact Sean @ RB Motoring (www.rbmotoring.com).
He'll be able to tell you what you need to know. If not, he knows the right people to talk to. Not some bull$hit company that pulls stuff out of their a$$.
