somthing is wrong with my car:(

I was driving my car yesterday and then it suddenly just started to hesitate. I barely made it up the hill and then I pulled over...I let it run and did not notice anything out of place under the hood so I thought that whatever it was, was healed by the self healing powers that most rx7 have. About a mile down the road it died...I tried several times to start it and after a few(ok- like 20) it did. It acted JUST like I ran out of gas( I did that a lot when I was a teenager so I am somewhat of a expert at it). It would slowly come up to reg idle but if you steped on the gas it wantd to die...so I let id idle for a few minutes and all was good. Then today it did the same thing..it acts like it is not getting any fuel-or enough...What do you guys think,,fuel pump going out? I have a new one here so I guess I will install that ASAP! I do have to say that she got me home tonight...she always does

well...it is not the fuel pump....I checked the voltage at the pump and that was good too..It almost did not want to start this morning...when it finally did(was flooded) it ran fine and then it did not then it did, etc...I took the plugs out and they were black and a little wet...I have a new set coming just for the heck of it. I am also thinking that something coudl be wrong with my AFM....not sure...will talk ot the dealer soon to se what he thinks..they actually know their stuff

sounds like something maybe clogged in the exhaust...the behavior you're describing is similar to that of a clogged cat. Just a mechanic's $.02 without hearing or seeing anything on the car.

Fuel filter maybe?
If its clogged you dont get the correct fuelpressure
OEM filters arent that expensive.

I'm sure you have done a rewire on for your uprated fuel pump to make sure it's getting enough voltage, maybe you ought to check the wires and make sure nothing came loose...another good place to look for problems would be where your alarm cuts the fuel off (I'm assuming it does what with having a remote start and all). Just a few more ideas for you.

voltage at the blue wire at the fuel pump is 13.8V...and my alarm does not cut the fuel off so no prob there..i am looking at the AFM at this time..just need to see what the resistance is between terminals E2 and Vs and E2 and Vc...withmy luck some Farret liked the warmth of my car and decided to eat at some wires they could be grounding out...hmmm...all this and I am moving....someone email me some "Time" please

I guess when it rains it pours, LOL. If I think of anything else I'm post it up, but I'm tapped out on this one.

Symptom sounds EXACTLY like low fuel So, if you do have enough fuel then check the usual in the path of fuel: filter, pump, rail, injectors.

If you are getting any weird smoke out of the tailpipe, then check igniters and spark plugs too (if you are saying that you have new filter and exhaust)....

sounds like a good culprit to me...I hate having to run AFMs. The 1.8T MAFs I'm used to dealing with had nothing but problems. Can't you rid yourself of the AFM with standalone engine managment??

there's a dyno near me, but you'd have to bring your own tuning equipment (computer, etc) I think. Haven't looked into it too much.

there is a new thing we can do with ele fuel pumps to see if they are working, but frist keep in mind that checking the voltage at is a good thing to do it is not the last step, the new thing is what is called curent ramping the pump, you need to things and must techs at any given shop don't have them so the likly ness that you my have them is none, a O scpoe and a inductive amp probe, with there tools you can check, flow, perssuer, RPM of the pump, and what is mostly importen the amp draw of each winding and brush condetion, and thoes getting a idel of, is the pump good and how long it mite be good for, seen many time where a fuel perssuer gauge shows good perssuer but as the pump warms up it begins to fail which may that a long time depending on how full the tank is, fuel being which keeps the pump cool, it does sound as if there is a fuel deliver problem,
