?New RX-7 2006¿

Found a picture of something that should be the newest RX-7 (Fe?).
Looks like an RX-8 without that trapdoor.

Is this for real or just a nice computertrick?

I believe that this is a photoshop image.
This is not a 4th gen Rx7....its a two door RX8!!!!!
But i ve also heard a rumor that says that the next rx7 cabrio will have a hard top.....

PS:Lets hope that the next rx7 will not look like a rx8!!!!

it's not. the rx-8's chassis code is se3p. the confusion comes from the fact that the us models have fe in the vin instead of se

That pic has been on the net for a while. It's obviously a chopped pic, and not a real car. Just take a look at the license plate: would you really think Mazda will use a german license plate on the prototype??? I'd guess before we see any of these in Europe, many pics would be around from the prototypes in Japan. Just a weired German photoshopper who thinks germany is the center of the world, that's all...
And indeed: if that car's the new RX-7, I'd be dissapointed. Sharing parts with the RX-8, ok, but not just a two door RX-8, please!

Yes, because I have seen it happening before.
When the "Old" FD was not yet on the market, they drove some/several "000000"-vin-numbers around for presentations to the press and dealer-response. There were taken pictures @ the Felix-house, with some SA & FC models.
When you see the Seven on a German sales brochure, they often use some fake numbers, even without the TUV-stamps...

Yep, but those are mostly pre-production models for testing, not the first models around. Before they test such a car, it usually will have been under development for a while, and some spy-pics would have been around.

[QUOTE]

When I see the price @ our local gas station, probably never...

Remember the C-111 and Wankel Corvettes, bad timing = oil troubles around 1974 - selling those ones... never happened

You could have a point there... If I was to develop a new car, I'd sure wouldn't make it a gaz-guzzling monster. Maybe the next RX- will be a hybrid? That'd be cool: a hybrid Wankel powered car that uses not too much fuel but still looks like a car, instead of that FUGLY Toyota...

Not shure I should follow you here...
The (second) Prius is for sale in "cheap" Germany for 24.000 Euro - the Yaris for 10.000. This is 2.4 times the normal price.
No idea how much excactly the Honda Insight costs but I tought it was about 22.000(German)Euro.

If the FD was about 40.000Euro in 1992 x 2.4 = a Hybrid Wankel ¿?

No thanks...

Hybrids are better in the sense that they are more efficient than true internal combustion engines, but the ultimate are fuel cells. Too bad Mazda hasn't been researching them. That would be awesome, the first fuel cell car as an RX-7.

on short term, fuel cells are a pipe dream. They are no where near production ready, while the hybrid technology is there and ready to go. Even more so, by using H2 instead of fuel (not hard at all: can be compared with using LPG) the cars would be even cleaner.
