Looking for Wankel Racer pic's

Hi all,

I was looking for pictures (and data) on Wankel rotary racers – successful on the European tracks - or not.

Try to find that mining-helmet with candle and dig all in your archives.

Thanks.

I found this picture in a BMW collection. Was @ Spa, in the 80's?

Any idea when/who drove the rx7sa (1ste generation) sponsors were JAL (Japanese Air Lines) and SECA.

that's the one that won Spa, indeed. A replica is at the entrance hall of Mazda importer Beherman. The others are the TWR cars that were used in touring car races.
The Roland car (the green FC) might be a local Belgian team. I know Roland used to sponsor the Vanierschot Mazda's, so maybe that's one of them?

Question

Found on

http://www.autosport.be/shownews.awm?id=3443

following:

Any pictures available?

Yep, probably - RX-7's are less expensive to race - (Porsche-you know) - depends of the class (1308cc or+2600cc) you may race in, I guess...

RX-7's will never be allowed to race as 1.3l cars in Belgium. Either they will be seen as 2.6 litres, as Belgian laws are stating, or as 1.8 times 1.3l, which is the FIA coefficient (at least it was when the 787B was racing, not sure if it is still that way)
As for the Werner Van Herck car, I never found pics of that one either.

The Van Herck car is the former Petitt Racing FD and I already saw it in real life at Zolder during testingfor the 24H. Sadly enough it had turbo issues back then and they were just braking in a new engine.

Currently the exhaust system is being rebuild and they are going for a Vmount setup instead of the front intercooler. WHich will be far more better in my opinion

Any updates with the Van Herck (ex-Pettit racing) FD?

Last I read, they had engine tuning problems a few months ago.
I did find a race result : Class - GTB / 22nd - (27/3/05)
http://www.automobilsport.com/site/C...ults-1100.html

Thanks
Oliver

I mail them every once in a few weeks and normally I went watching them at Zolder a fe w weeks ago in preparation of the Belcar race.
Unfortunately they had AGAIN blown the motor.

After that I contacted them and redirected them to Kempower to have their engine tuned.

Yesterday i got a mail they went testing last week and run 3 hours without problems and they hope to run the 6Hours Of Spa Franchorchamps next week trouble free.

No idea if they chere at Kempower for tuning, but let's hope things are turning for the better this time...

Oliver you need to get on MSN more so we can chitchat some more ;-)

Yes, let's hope they can do well in the 6 hour race! Sounds like they have figured something out that works (running 3 hours)...that's good news!!
Thanks for the update and I will turn on my MSN more often so we can talk....

Thanks again
Oliver
