I live in France and I soon will buy a turbo FC II which has 105.000km in rather good state.

I will have liked to know what I will be able to do to make reliable my 13bt a little?


I thought of installing an electric water pump, like replacing the hose connections of water and turbo, what do you think about that?

My advice would be to learn to use the "search" button because you will be repeatedly told to use it and get a factory service manual as soon as possible. They are available here for download.

First of all welcome and soon to be congrats on the purchase of your car. I honestly don't know much about the FC's (i'm an FD guy) but there are plenty of helpful people on these forums.

Thank you for your cordial reception, that given pleasure! Thank you still for the bonds, I will look them closely. For the moment I will try as much as possible to make reliable the engine (purchase of a turbo timer HKS in other) like replacing all the hose connections of the turbos I you post of the photographs as soon as possible of my Rx7

it is entirely of origin except the dump valve "monza" (i don't know the real brand) which the former owner had installed. It soon will have its 20 years and it with always potato!

Just a tip, the rimms (wheels) on the car are mounted wrong, left wheels are mounted on the right side and the right wheels are mounted on the left side of the car.



yes, Rx-7's (FC) has left and right rimms (on the inside of the rimm you can see wich is left L or right R )

As with all old cars, it's not a bad idea to change rubber hoses. Don't forget that even the youngest FC is about 16 years old. By now, most of the vacuum lines (there's enough of those on stock RX-7's) are hardened (dried out) making them prone to leaks. Installing silicone hoses there is a good idea. Coolant hoses could be a bit more difficult: the pre-formed "elbows" aren't cheap from Mazda. A burst hose costs you loads more though...
Most tips about this car can be found at FC3Spro, so just start wth that, it's good reading material. Other then that, I'm an old school man, FC's are too modern for me So not much experience.

I will post you photographs of the bay engine but, all the hose connections are really in an excellent state (rather odd considering the age of the car) and my engine leaves 8kg/cm2! (95500kms) Thank you for the remark for the rims, but I do not dare to change them direction because the tires are quite worn, I intend to change my tires and rims (can have passed in to the look of my FC (and of my budget).

I also will make by precaution a draining supplement driving/limp/bridge + brake system to be more on.

 

The FB is a good car too! I traversed already a little the site FC3spro and it is really complete!

 

please look often to the hose between engine and the heater.
the hose at the area under the oil filter who is going in the car to the heater was leaking at 180km/h at the autobahn in october last year 150km away from home and it was sunday:-(

If not to make it reliable: I do not manage to find a store of parts of performance in Europe: ( I will have wanted to invest in a radiator KOYO like in manométres (oil temperature, water temperature and exhaust) Do you know a good store for these parts (if possible in Europe) I hot have also some concern sometime, it does not start of the 1st blow (not permanently but that happens) I think that that can come from the candles to see beam of lighting? As far as getting parts for the FC in Europe.......good luck. I have had to get everything (but a few used parts) from the states. Every time I walk into a auto shop and ask for parts for an RX 7, they look at me like I'm crazy. The common reaction is "You want parts for a what????" LOL, true story....One of the local Mazda dealers actually looked physically scared after I showed him what I wanted parts for. I opened the hood and all he could say as he backed away from it was "no,no,no,no.....We don't work on those", LMFAO!

For new parts I would go to Cork Sport (the link is in my 1st post). For used parts I would 1st check with either Mireck or Higgi and if they don't have what you need I might be able to help you.

Now about your starting problem. Your english is a little hard to read, but what I understand is that it doesn't start on the 1st try. My question is if it won't start after the car is warmed up or when it's cold (1st start of the day)? That makes a big difference. If your just flooding it (to much gas) then there is a whole list of things to try. Whatever you do you shouldn't give the car any gas untill it's started. RX 7's are prone to flooding so be careful about that. My coupe used to have a hot start problem and I fixed it with 2 things, 1.) My starter was bad so I put a new one in and it got a little better, 2.) I had an old battery and when I put a new one in the problem went away completely. That was just my experience with that, but there a lots of other causes for hot start problems.

I would also check the spark plugs (candles/ beam of lightning) and see if they are fouled, if so then replace them. I use NGK BUR9EQ (or the platinum equivalent) for the leading and trailing plugs. The manual says to use 7's in the leading (I think) , but I like to run a hotter (?) plug all the way around. If you haven't already changed the spark plug wires then I would get new ones also.

I hope that helps a little, if not then go to fc3spro.com because most of the more common problems are listed there. Also, as I learned from my own experience, there is no question that you will have about your RX 7 that has not been asked 100 times before. I cannot stress enough how important research is. Read, read, read, and when your tired of reading......read some more.

For my problems to start, its (lol my english is very bad) when the engine is hot! (not at all time but its happen sometimes). When the engine is cold, the engine start quickly (no problem!) I follow your answer, its maybe my old battery (i will remplace them)

In other, I live in France at Nantes (middle west, next to the coast). In France, when you go in a Mazda "store" (i don't know the good word in english), sometine they don't know what a model is a Rx7!! ( but they know the Rx8 because they sell it) We have only 4 models of FC3s turbo II in France!

I went last summer witj my Turbo to france and the people looks like i have a UFO .

I have a rotary engine repair shop and sells parts for all rotarys. We import from US and Japan also we export to customers in europe.
