Understanding the standalone...

A good day would be the day that I purchase, install, and tune a standalone for any car.

This is my real goal in the automotive world, is to learn how to tune. Not just tuning for performance, but for anything, how to exactly tune a standalone.

I've looked at chapters for books, and there are plenty on automotive, such as fuel injection and the whatnot, but there is nothing for any kind of standalone. I want to know how they work, how the software works, how to USE the software, and how exactly to adjust the software for the best performance.

Can you guys recommend anything at all, like a book or anything, into wich I can learn this? How did you all learn? I wouldn't be surprized if you had a friend who taught you. However, out of all my friends, im the only one with a real passion to learn how to do this, and they have no idea what its all about.

any ideas?

The EMS and its software is really just the interface to your engine. All you are doing while tuning is inputting the principles of EFI into the ECU.

Once you know the theory, you only need to learn the software to apply it. The best way to do that is to download the software for various systems and play with them.

I learned to navigate my Wolf 3d just by playing with it. Same goes for my Haltech.
