Throttle stuck wide open

Valves stuck open
Hello guys

My throttle body valves stay wide open when i floor the gas pedal and release it. I am unsure about what could be the cause of this. Its not the cable because when i unhook it and manually open the valves in the TB they work fine but it’s just when u go all open they stay open and you need to push a lil hard on the lever thingy where the cable holds onto to get them back to closed. Now i searched alot on the forums and i saw a few things passing about the thermowax being stuck? Now when reading all that it just seemed like the thermowax is like just for the idle and stuff but my valves stay WIDE OPEN on engine on or off. Anybody could know what’s up?

Try cleaning the mechanism that the throttle cable hooks to, the spribg that's supposed to snap the throttle closed, and the rod that connects it all to the valves.

Mine started to stick and bind about a decade ago, turned out to just have a bunch of gunk built up in the spring which interfered with it operating properly. I want to say that carb cleaner followed by some WD-40 did the trick.

I’m hesitant to give you advice because most people shouldn’t really be messing around with a throttle body. Give this thread a read ~ https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...rbish-1144243/
Post # 40 of that thread include a link to JP3 who will rebuild that for you.

This should be posted in the third gen section.
