Stand alone options for FC?
Can someone tell me all of the standalone options for the FC?
The only ones I can think of is Haltech and Wolf3D.
I dont think Apexi makes a PowerFC for FC's.
Reccomondations would be cool too.
How hard is one of these things to install?

im looking to go stand alone too! Haltech is my choice, i was talking with roland from this forum. and he has a f9 in his turbo II and highly recomends it. he was saying how its more difficult to tune the e6k than the f9. all the f9 does is control fuel. anyone else have the f9 that can throw some input in here. any e6k guys give some input please!!!

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
I helped install an Autronic SMC in a T2 2 years ago and it worked great. but in your neck of the woods support will let you down, Even in Aust support is hard sometimes
On a side note, you cannot run the OMP with this unit, I think the same is true of Haltech so either you will need to convert to mechanical OMP or use premix.
The amount of wiring you will pull from the car is simply unbelievable when ditching the stock ECU.
Looking back at it, I would for the money have selected the Haltech as it offers you more features for a very reasonable cost, and the support is second to none in my opinion.

The installation difficulty depends on you. It's really more of an electrician's project more so than a mechanic's project. An experienced pro can install an EMS in one day, someone with basic electrical skills and automotive knowledge could install it in a couple of weekends, while a pure novice may never get it installed correctly. If you have any doubts, check with your local rotary performance shop to see if they can give you a good purchase package which includes installation and tuning.
This site shows the installation of a Haltech, which basically involves the same work as the other brands.

I have a decent knowlegde of automible electrics. Someone once said "Its like a giant stereo install" That being said, I see no problem installing it, as I have done stereo, and amp installs. Plus Ive re-wired my fuel pump. (big whoop) The only problem I see is time. Its probably going to take longer than a stereo, and I dont mind. Im comfortable with my hacking and soldering skills.

look at whats available in your area because after you spend the bucks after sales service is the most important criteria.
Personally the Microtech mtx8 is the best value for money aswell as a simple install.
With stripping your car ,youcould be running in +- half a day. comes premapped a bit rich but running like a charm. The most popular system for the 13bt in South Africa and Australia.
