Rob Dahm

If a mod reads this, can you edit the title to read "Rob Dahm timing and lambda" I hit submit before I had finished and only realized after it posted.

Just saw that Dahm shared his Lambda and timing screen on his 700hp FC build. I am running Megasquirt, so will have to convert, but:

As he says though, FC lower compression rotors

IMPORTANT! This is on E85 fuel and he says on the video that it's on the aggressive side.

i'm just looking at the normal people rows, 9-13psi, and .81 is ~11.9 afr and .82 is ~12
its possible on pump gas, but it is leaner than what most people are comfortable with.

Never got the infatuation with this guy. As much time and money went into that fd 4 wheel drive and then get spanked by a turbo ford v6 while parts are falling off his car. If he spent more time doing and less time making videos I might be impressed.

I posted this mainly because not many people that tune rotaries seem to ever want to share their Timing and AFR data along with the dyno runs to get more info out to the community or even as a sanity check to what would be aggressive like the ones included.

The basemaps for Megasquirt are very aggressive out of boost compared to what is shown in the video, in some places 10 degrees more advanced.

'Very aggressive' and in vacuum is sort of an oxy-moron. Those numbers are fine, albeit poorly mapped and interpolated.

pretty sure he makes a living off making videos and tinkering with his cars, so kind of important for him to be doing both, otherwise he can’t do either. Not sure anyone is trying to impress you.

How do your cars compare? Care to show your maps? Would you do more or less aggressive? E85 or pump gas?

not following your v6 comments. There are inline 4s that can beat his 4 rotor. His 4 rotor can also beat v10 and v12s. Lots of engines can be made to do great things, that’s what makes it fun.

Judging by ATCs post history, he has nothing to offer besides negativity, best to just ignore these types since they bring everyone around them down.

I agree with you and I think Rob is an invaluable source to the community, he is pulling back the shroud on a lot of mysteries that have plagued the rotary world, and generally putting rotaries in a better light. Regardless of what the small minority here thinks, he is advancing the rotary community in the right direction. He has a sense of humility that most here seem to lack.

I'm late to the party here but the Hoonicorn has a 410 cubic inch twin turbo V8 that made about 200hp more than Rob and was about 300lbs lighter. I'd say to come as close as he did in a car that wasn't fully sorted out yet he did pretty good. If you watch the Hoonicorn vs. the world series there is almost nothing that it's went up against that the hoonicorn didn't beat.

Agree. To talk about how much money went into the 4 rotor. Way more money went into the hoonicorn, and by professional race teams. Haters gonna hate...
