please help me choose the correct standalone for my fc setup!

ok heres the deal:
s4 turbo II with s5 turbo rotors
heavey street port.
upgraded injectors and going to get upgraded turbo.
fmic
walbro255 pump
planning on making 325-400 whp

i have been looking at the haltech e6k and e6x, butmost recently i was leaning towards the power fc because rx7store.net is based in florida and i could have it tuned there.

the most important things the ems needs:
to get rid of the s4 airflowmeter!! either replace with a nonflapper type, or begone!!
the almost direct plug n play of the power fc, deffinatly a plus
would be great if the stand alone could work on a mostly tuned status for the break in of my new engine, instead of useing the stock ecu
thanks for all your help folks!

I always recommend that people use whatever EMS their tuner recommends, since they all pretty much do the same basic things (unless you're looking into more advanced standalones like a Motec). If you're tuning it yourself, I would try comparing the functions of different EMS and playing around with each companies software to see what you are most comfortable with.

That said, Haltechs seem to be one of the more popular standalones on this forum, so you can always get help/support from people here. There is also a Haltech Support Yahoo group that is very helpful. Some people seem to be having CAS problems with the E6X, so you might want to look into an E6K if you can find one. They also have the new E8, but I haven't heard any feedback on that yet.

Tuning can be pretty tricky for a beginner. You can do it yourself, but rotaries aren't the greatest platform to learn to tune on. If you decide to tune it yourself, you'll need a dyno, a wideband, and some knowledge on A/F ratios, timing, etc. There is a ton of info just on this forum, so I would read up on tuning if you're not experienced. Some people do have base maps available to get you started, but they'll still need plenty of fine tuning.
