Needing some guidance on EMS

OK here is the rundown on my car:
1987
Mazda rx7 Tii

Mods:
Removed emissions
blockoff plates
Apexi gt spec downpipe
Apexi Gt spec exhaust
FMIC
Greddy BOV
Ported WG
Just service injectors (just wanting state the cars current status)
Relocatede Battery

I am wanting to get an affordable ems that tuners can use. I did email S&R here in Tampa about what they use. They just tuned my STI and did a great job. All Im wanting to do is eliminate maf and get the car running smooth again. seems like ever since i removed emisions I just dont trust the car emough to drive it very far from my house. (probably me just being paranoid). right now it starts and then dies unless i put my foot on gas for a couple seconds. didnt do that prior to emmisions removal (thermowax is still there). So basically ill be using it to 1. make the car run smoother 2. tune up my boost a little and gain more power.

Now my question is. Based off of actually expierience which EMS do you reccomend. my budget for the EMS would be roughly $500-$1000. I know thats a big gap in price but I would like to stay close to $500 but if its worth it ill go more. thanks in advance. hope I was clear enough about my wants/needs.

P.S also may do turbo upgrade later down the road.

I would use whatever S&R uses. That way they can help you out when you get stuck, and they can also let you know which model will meet your needs. It will be difficult to stay under $1,000, and unless you can find a special group-buy or used EMS, I think your only choice in that price range is the Haltech Platinum Sprint RE.

If you bump up your budget just a bit, then you can also look at the AEM S2, Haltech Platinum Sport, Microtech LT-10S, Wolf V4, and Apexi Power FC with adapter. Again, I would tend to go with whatever your local tuners use.

You may need upgraded fuel injectors and an upgraded fuel pump with your modifications. Choose the EMS first though, and then you will know what kinds of options you will have with the injectors. If you haven't installed the cleaned injectors yet, then you may want to at least hold on to the secondaries and keep them as spares or sell them on Ebay.

Thanks for the info. I did forget to mention I have a walbro. The objectors are in already. I was leaning toward the haltech cause of what I've read it basically comes with an engine harness and end unit. So seems like a great unit.
