Need some input on an ECU

I need some input on picking an ECU. I'm sick of taking advice from shady mechanics that just want to make a sale. I have a 1991 Convertible and I am installing a fully rebuilt street ported turbo II S5 engine.

For now I want to keep it pretty much stock. In the summer I plan on upgrading the turbo.

The mechanic that's installiing the engine is recommending a SPRINT-RE. I searched the forums and it appears that if I go this route, I'll lose my A/C? Is this true??

There are many different ECUs in many different Price ranges. Choose the best/ locally supported ECU in your area.

The factory ECU controls A/C operation. A good electrical mechanic or engine tuner should be able to work around or have the ECU continue these capabilities. The Sprint RE is very limited when it comes to available spare inputs and outputs. address this with your engine builder and see if he is capable of retaining A/C operation.
