if you tune for race gas on a micro teck does it screw with it for pump gas? i guess im trying to say is if you tune the car to say 15psi on pump gas and say you want to put race gas in and turn the boost up to 23 does it screw with the map for pump gas do they run on the same map? or does it only ajust for above the pump gas seting ?

In most cases, you need to build up a separate map for each fuel type. The three different grades of pump fuel have very similar characteristics, and usually don't need different tuning unless knocking is an issue. Some race fuel is similar to pump fuel, so it also may work with the pump fuel maps. However, most race fuel is very different from pump fuel, in which case you really need to re-tune the map. I am not aware of any aftermarket EMS that will automatically compensate for race fuel. Fortunately, EMS technology has come to a point where it is very easy to switch maps quickly, although initially setting them up still takes a while.

Us guys with the Power FC's like to have the car tuned on pump up to say 15 or 16 psi. Then adjust boost and fill with race fuel. Tune the map above 16 psi for race fuel. This way all you need to do when you go to the track is turn up the boost and fill it with race fuel. You dont need to upload maps. Or bring a laptop or have a datalogic etc. Its all on one map. Just the cells up high are all tuned on race fuel. You wont see these cells unless you crank up the Boost and you will have to use race fuel anyways at those boost levels.

That will not work properly if the race fuel is radically different than the pump fuel. One thing you guys need to understand is there is not just one type of "race gas", and when you use that term, it could mean anything from 100LL to hydrogen peroxide.

Also, if you just tune the higher load (boost) bands for the race fuel, then the lower load bands are still going to be a bit off. However, if the race fuel is somewhat similar to pump fuel, drag racers and novices will not notice as much difference as road racers and experienced drivers/tuners.
