I know, but.. HKS F Con V Pro SOS

Just got my FD from Japan. Has an HKS FCon V Pro (little gold unit).

looks to be the a version 3.1, based on internet searching.

I also understand this is a “locked” tune/software- HKS dealer only. And this being an old unit, doubt that anywhere in the US can tune.

Having said that, is there ANYONE out there that happens to have the old HKS software and key, they would be willing to share? Ive seen very old posts that some ppl ended up with it..

Or any HKS shops that might have the old software, can tune?

I am working on changing out the EMS completely, but for now, figured I would fish the club a little.

Thanks

Unlocked software, for all the V-pros up to v3.24 has been floating around the internet since at least 2007. If you look on Ebay, you might finding listings that package the cable and unlocked software for like $20.

Thanks for the tip, i’ll continue the search. Scoured eBay for some time, various forums, but yeah posts are around 2007 give or take.

Hopefully something comes up while I wait to change it all out.

Car runs awesome on 100 octane, just not practical for me and where I live. I also would love to edit and see the maps.

👍

Found a Youtube video from Horsepower Logic from Fl. The guy there has the key, tuned an r32 gts-t. But the video was some years old.

Sent them an email, fishing some more.

After all the research, aside from the horrible, lock-and-key nature of HKS, I really would like to keep it. The capability is there, my car runs good with it, and something about it coming out of Japan. A lot of tuners there seem to use it.

So here's the thing. There may be nothing functionally wrong with your ECU (other than the lock-and-key nonsense), and you may love how it drives and the lore of it being "JDM yo"...but look at what you're going through just for basic support. When you speak to a professional about ECU choices, there are always going to be some that are obviously better than others, but they will always start with customer support and finding someone who can tune your specific ECU (For example, the Power FC is barely better than a pile of rocks, but since so many people are familiar with it, the popularity and support will always be there). Your ECU may be fine for 10 years or so down the road, but eventually you're going to need to find someone who can physically work with it. You're better off reaching out to the guys in Australia for the time being, but it will never be as easy as running a Haltech or Power FC in the continental US.

i belive sound performance in IL still is able to work with the HKS fcon units. unrelated my z32 single turbo also runs on a HKS fcon, its old and dated but it runs flawlessly.

thanks for the reply, and as stated, I am likely moving on from the unit. I am 100% too old, and completely uninterested in the JDM drifto boy crowd, lmao. Don’t worry there.

I am familiar with Adaptronic and Haltech units, with the Elite having such an easy to use software, and ton of support local to me, my likely choice. That isn’t really the point of the thread.

For now, I don’t want to tear into the car, tear into the bank account with that route just yet. Would be really cool to simply have some options out there, especially with so many JDM cars coming in, not just the RX.

Spoke to Jack from HP Logic, he can do it, but again, needs the car physically in front of him.

I feel you though, and thanks for the reply.

thanks for the tip. I miss my 40th z34, reminds me of the FD In a way. But nice car. RHD also?

Same boat, my FD runs great. I just don’t want to risk a blind tune/map, and have to go out to my local airport for 100 octane. As Manny stated, I am “easier” to drop the platform. And that is my “future” plan. Im just fishing. No particular rush.

I know someone out there has the software and key on an old laptop, collecting some dust

Wait... your car us currently tuned to 100 octane? Are you sure it isn't 98/100 RON? The rating system is different from the US (AKI) and most of the rest of the world (RON).

I don’t know what it is tuned for, hence my search for the software. My assumption is whatever is “premium” in Japan. Excuse my ignorance, I am sure it would be 98/100 RON in that case. Thanks for the correction. Does that equate to 93-95+ AKI?

All I know is I can’t get anything above 91 local, and the car didn’t like the 5 ish gallons of it. Ran great on whatever they left me in the tank (it was basically empty).

I promptly shut down the car. I have since added an oct booster and am working on rewiring some sections of the car. So have not run it yet.

Thanks for the reply and information

BK Industries out of Meridian, ID cannot do the older HKS, but has capability for the newer version, and are great with Haltech. If (and likely when) I move on, these guys would be a good resource. FYI

Found it, Will update

Found software (in Japanese). Shows compatibility with everything pre version 3.24, perhaps its an unlocked/ custom version. Not too costly. Confirmed this unit is version 3.1, black faceplate, blue dot. Gonna give it a try, see if it will connect!

Octane booster cleared it up as well. Ended up clearing out flooding issues as well 👍

Car ran very well this weekend. Perhaps the altitude change was enough to keep the car moderately happy with 91 (plus leftover booster) on the current map. Runs rich up top but not horribly.

Have to give the car a full fluid change and replace some older hoses/lines.

ECU software on the way. Excited to see if this will work! ✌️

Software looking good

Got the software. Looks promising, haven’t had a chance to plug into the car yet. A few translation issues with some of the letters and characters, but I am able to navigate it so far, and understanding some Japanese. Came with all versions up to 3.24

Working on translating the pages. It definitely plugs in to the car ecu, was able to download the current map successfully.

Exciting. Sure, there are latest and greatest out there, but this solved my problems and wants for now.

Car is running better and better. Perhaps this thread will die, but at least those with the FCon have an option.

The software came with many base maps for other cars too.

Here we are a couple years later...

I haven't figured out how to send private messages, although it might be because i just now registered on this site.

I happen to have imported a car that also was built with a V-Pro. I'm sorry, she's no FD, but it is a nissan Stagea, and , well, since I have a kid, it's sort of dad cool I suppose.

If you can get in contact with me, I desperately need to try and find the software for this thing ( I believe its a 3.2 based on internet sleuthing) before I throw a haltech in it.

I will continue to try and post and build up necessary requirements to send you a private message. Until then, I hope youre still enjoying the car you imported.

All,
I only have a few supported versions of this software, not all HKS units are the same. Please verify what version you have. I wish I could help you out, but sadly, even the limited software I have is not fully translated either. This is definitely “proceed at your own risk”

there are limited US versions of this out there, and even fewer familiar shops to tune. Please PM me if you have further questions, regards

Sorry to bump this thread but where did you get the software? I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Nor searching in japanese and whatnot.
Thanks!
