Question How to know if a used reprogamed ecu is legit?

I was wondering how would you tell if a reprogrammed m2 ecu you bought used was the real deal? The only way i can tell mine"stage3" is even different is that when i punch it hard now i get some smoke which tells me im a little rich now. Nice and safe. But how do I know for sure ? Is there a sticker or anything on the inside that states what the new chips are. Actually I have an old one I guess I just have to crack them open and compare . Any thoughts here anyone?

I have the same question. I just bought one and got it today. And I can't tell if it's been remapped. Besides, seeing the puff of smoke. Can you actually feel more HP?

here is something i just made for you guys. just open it up and see if it looks similar to this. there should be some stickers on 2 of the chips. theoretically you should get a horsepower increase out of this because they change the timing and a few other parameters. i think i read on someone's site a long time ago that they got a whopping 25hp out of it on the dyno. i can't verify this since i did the downpipe simultaneously but i suppose i could do it if i got a stock ecu for this coming dyno day and swapped them out between runs but that's too risky for me.
