High-end ECU selection (yes, again...)

Hi all,

I've been looking over some of the ECU threads in the digest and I'd just like to get a read based on the most current information available. If you find a thread that I have missed that addresses my specific concerns, I would be grateful for a pointer.

I am considering an aftermarket EMS for my 94 FD. I have researched many of the players, but I lack some real-world knowledge with rotary applications. Here are the control units I have checked out:

Tier 1:

1) Pectel T6/T10
2) MoTeC M48/M800
3) EFI 1.9/2.1
4) Haltech E11

Tier 2:

1) DTA P8Pro
2) Apex'i Power FC
3) AEM EMS
4) Electromotive TEC3

Here are my requirements, roughly in order of importance:

1) can use factory harness for almost all input/output (I am willing to build my own harness adapter and add auxilary sensors)
2) can provide a 3D boost-corrected map (so that an EBC can be used safely and effectively)
3) it well-suited to rotor control (with variable timing split)
4) does not disable any of the factory functions that rely on the CPU (or as few as possible--I realize this is a bit unrealistic)
5) is altitude-correcting
6) can store multiple maps, preferably selectable from the cockpit
7) has usable datalogging
8) can be run in closed loop O2 on a per-rotor basis (multiple wideband Lambda)
9) has the potential for more closed-loop functions (trac ctrl, launch ctrl, anti-lag)
10) has output in "real" units (not voltages or some other value that must be translated on the fly)

I realize this is quite a load of information, and that any of the tier 1 controllers is probably capable of meeting my needs. I am more or less looking to hear your gut reaction as to which direction will be the path of least resistance for me. I have access to tuners for many of these systems, although the UK high-end stuff will be a bit problematic in that regard.

I am particularly interested in anyone who has had firsthand experience with the tier 1 stuff, especially Pectel, EFI, and MoTeC.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me,

-ch

And I should have mentioned:

My usage for the car will be a mixture of track days and autocross, but it must also be able to run reliably on the street as well. You track-only nuts may now look down on me.

Thus, the system should perform well idling under high temps and with various accessories on/off.

Thanks again,

Choices

I think by just the closed loop option eliminates most of them. I assume you meant sort of a self tuning feature since you mentioned wide band.

For what you are asking, it sounds like the Power FC meets most of what you require...
