Talking First day with PFC and pulled a WRX STI

Ok, so I finally got the PFC in and then let the car idle of about 20 minutes...the next day I got to drive it and test with a bunch of 3rd gear WOT tests...getting about 11.5psi ...Previously it was 9.5-10psi...

On the way home an WRX pulled in behind me and I flored it through 3rd and some of 4th until we ran out of road (max speed 195kmph) but I was watching him the rear view mirror and I was gaining on him...not super quick but noticable...my mods so far are DP, Intake, and PFC...Would this be normal to pull that car with these mods?

Also, I noticed that at close to redline the Commander beeped at me...does that mean I am hitting red line, or is it some serious warning or something?

Your FD should be faster than a WRX in stock form. You just would have been pulling away more slowly if you were stock.

The car will beep at you at 7500 RPM (manual transmission) in stock form to alert you that you are approaching redline. The PowerFC and Commander don't change this behavior, AFAIK.

Thanks for the info Max...Much appreciated...I guess it's the first time I am taking the RPM up the high because I just started noticing it after the PFC install...also just put on the racing beat CB and it really rocks...

thanks again,

David

as far as i know they have not released the STI in the states yet?? I think it's pretty far in the works. IF it really was an STI i think it could pull a stock FD or even lightly modded one. It's advertised to have a good 280hp or 300hp at the crank.

a stock WRX, in non STi trim can pull a quarter in about 14.3. STi adds about 50 hp bumping the total to, as was stated earlier by RX7Elmo, about 290hp. That should be good enough to keep up with even a lightly modded FD

i don't think it's fair to compare new STI and a 10 year old FD. Now, if you compare the new FD and STI, that would be a reasonable fight...of course, FD will kick butt!

Stock WRX's have 227hp, the STi, *when* it's released, will probably only have about 260hp. The sedans weigh between 3000 and 3100 lbs. So I would hope that a modded FD would pull away. The launches are insane though.
