EMS for 90 na?

Are there ems for na engines and do I need one?

I had an '86 na added a greddy exhaust, took out the two rear cats. About three months later one of the rotor blew. I read somewhere that the CPUs these cars came with could not handle mods.

So do I need one/do they exist for na engines?

Your engine probably just died of old age.

While it is slow and outdated, the stock CPU works reliably, and will adjust for most increases or decreases in performance. It is only the 93-later systems that do not compensate for increased or decreased engine efficiency.

You do not NEED an EMS, but the engine would run better with a professionally-tuned EMS. Most of the EMS products are universal, and will work in any model RX-7. See your local EMS dealer if you are interested. Plan on spending $1,000 to $4,000 for the EMS, and another $500 to $3,000 for installation and tuning.

Sweet! Thanks for the advice.

I'm only planing on adding a catback, intake and possibly headers to the intake. I was afraid of blowing the engine again. This'll save me some money I can use on other stuff like paint.

Regards!
