No, everything that I have seen is really lame or entirely too technical for the average reader. If you are interested in learning about ECU's, you would probably find good instruction at your local technical college.
You can learn a lot from reading the manuals of different EMS systems. Here is a link to the old Wolf3D 3.0 User Manual, and you can even download the Memory Cartridge Software to play around with if you are using Windows 95 or 98.
