custom 12a efi intake setups
custom 12a efi intake setups
looking for peoples setups on 12a efti conversions, my megasquirt is on its way so i thought id better get crackin making an intake for it, i have a mikuni carb and intake on it now, and i want to use that intake mani and 2 aftermarket or junkyard throttle bodies,
wanna see what you have done, no matter how crazy or cheesy the setup is,
also wondering about what size should the throttle bodies be
and if i use one throttle body, which i was also considering, what size/ what type of problems would i be facing
thanks, Paul.

I used an RB DCOE 12A manifold w/ Weber Alpha 50mm DCOE pattern TBs. The 50s are probably a little large for my street ported 12A but it still runs really well. Idles nicely and is very streetable, loves to rev.

I'm trying an experiment with a set of 4 motorcycle throttle bodies, but I'm nowhere near far enough along in the thing to say how it works... aside from that I'm pretty sure it *should* work.
Hearing that the 50mm throttles work well on a streetport is encouraging though, since I'm going to end up with about that much butterfly area.

One major thing I found out when using excess TB for my setup - using TPSdot as an accel enrichment input was next to useless. MAPdot works fine and obviates the need to include a TPS. Unless you're revving to the moon and beyond, I'm inclined to think that 2x45 may be more appropriate. I have good numbers and driveability with the 50s but theory holds that my intake velocity in the midrange would be better w/ slightly smaller TBs. I'm certainly not changing to find out as results are very satisfactory - "perfect can be the enemy of good". I'm good.
