Just wondering if anyone knows where I could get a Power FC w/Commander for the cheapest price. I know Ebay but want a new one. I had one but the shop that sent mine out to get repaired closed down and I have no way of contacting them......Thanks!

If you search the internet there are alot of sites that have very old pricing for the Power FC and Commander. There are only three distributers in the U.S. for the Power FC. Every dealer has to go through one of those three. The cheapest legit price I have found on the net is $1299. All the others have not updated their site in a year.

I think we're getting screwed on the price here. I say one of us go take a trip to Japan and pick up about 50 at a reasonable price.

I think you can get them at Nopi for like 1200.00. I haven't checked the Rx7 store yet though.

 

Thats Horsepower freaks page doesnt have them in stock. He e-mailed me and said he will let me know the current prices and availability. That tells me those prices are not valid. I will let you know. I know Jason has good prices but you always gotta look for them cheaper. Its the American Way!!

 

hehe, the only people doing the screwing around here is Apex-i themselves. They only have three Powerexcel dealer in the country (one of which is here in Houston, but refuses to touch rx7s). They are the only ones with special software to make the most of these units.

Forget about trying to get this special software - Apex-i is specific, they will not give it to the end user.

They also will not provide a way of controlling/monitoring the Power FC with a laptop, and even to go as far as changing the units and controllers with differnt versions (there are two in the US now) to make it harder to come up with a common hack.

Can you imagine the number of differnt versions in Japan? On top of that, I saw in a Japanese car magazine that there are enough changes over the last 9 years to warrant at least three differnt versions, based on model year. So if you have a 92-95, you need one version, if 96-98, another, etc.

Add to that, the instructions are going to be in Japanese, and you would have to find it somewhere in English.

Just easier to get one here.

 

Yeah, I'm familiar with the different versions. The first PFC I got was last winter. It got messed up after I had the motor put in for some reason. My next one was useless due to the Commander not being able to communicate with the ecu part. So finally, I get the latest version and it works great. I go away on vacation and I leave my car at the shop to have some minor things done for a week. I get back and it has to be jumped for some reason. They jump it backwards and fry the PFC totally. So i'm waiting on my 4th now only to find out the shop has been closed down by the police......great. So no PFC. I might of lost it, but I still came out on top since I owe them money.....I tried to get in touch but no luck for now.........we'll see.

 

Power freak e-mailed me a price of 1289 for commander and ECU. Thats about the same price as Jason at the Store. He said the priced got jacked up. Same Story 3 dealers in US. Similar prices. Jason has them in stock. Also Jason has a good reputation. I would just buy it here.
