Build your own EGT gauge

I put this in the ECU forum since that's the audience that'd have the most interest.

I found a great argicle on www.AutoSpeed.com about thermocouples and how to build a temperature gauge for cheap. I wish I'd read this before I dropped almost $200 on a Greddy gauge.

I'll probably use this to make a display of air temperature before and after the intercooler.

Also, for those interested, here is an excellent technical article on how thermocouples and EGT gauges work. It also contains some comparisons of a few gauges and thermocouples.

http://www.turbodieselregister.com/EGT_EVAL.pdf

I ran across this stuff while trying to figure out how to log EGTs on the Haltech.

Great article. I like Autospeed's DY writeups. I got my EGT and sender from these guys, all for less than $80.

For $12.50 + shipping you can also get a Type J ungrounded thermocoupler from http://www.plasticprocess.com/
