My Rx-7 is going dead! I have the fan mod but it was working fine before with out draining all of the power from the battery. I noticed the alternator gets unusually hot after the car runs for about 2 minutes and I don't know if this is normal. My question is what type of battery volt readings are you guys getting. I get peak of 13.9 or so with no acc. running. Should this be more is my alternator bad??

 

13.9 - 14.1 is ideal.

With the lights on, it shouldn't drop below 13.6

I run with an optima battery and an 89+ alternator. I get 14.9, yes kind of high but no problems and 14.5 with the lights on.

You mean the 89 rx-7 alternator just plugs in the same way as a FD? Cool so if I need more volts I can just go with that Thanks!!

Is not complete plug and play, You have to get and 89 plug to make it work. They are different form the pre 88. IF not you just have to make your own with terminals.

Got my 89+ alternator for 35 bucks from mazdarecycling and they thru in the plug cause I asked for it.
