Autotune ECU/algorythm
Hi there, Since 2004 I've been on this board and since then (and before) the autotune route was a popular subject for ECUs. Since my project has been collecting dust for 6 years now, I'm slowly diving back into it. After some searches it seems the subject has died a slow death. I figured that, by now, some IT wizard had come up with a working algorythm to autotune the ECU (standalone).
Given the fact that almost all off these work with the 20x20 grid for fuel, ignition and timing, it could be a universal idea. Obviously not a holy and almighty problem solver, but still.
knowing that A/f ratio is one of the principal guide lines for the rotary and you can easily take in this data with a quality wideband lambda it should be breeze to have some sort of a programme (hell, I guess even an Excell turntable could do the trick). Taking A/F data when running/driving the car and having it adjust fuel on the fly acc to the A/F mapping. with nowadays double DIN PC units it would make a lot of sense.
Offcourse the ignition table would be another cup of tea and for the more experienced or adventurous amongst us.
It would also make for a safety issue to protect the engine from running lean, hot ar detonating due to problems you can only detect through mapping data.

its their ecu that does it. i believe certain haltechs do it also. i get what youre saying about a universal software that would auto tune any platform but regardless of the 20x20 grid, all the softwares operate differently. the only way it would work is if you made the primary program and then wrote individual configurations for each platform for that program to interface with it and actually do the auto tune function.
having the adaptronic powers available on the power fc would change everything.

I currently have a PFC unit on mine with Datalogit connection to a laptop. Combined with an Innovative wideband lambda. this combo is capable of logging WB lambda data in a 20x20 grid. Only 'problem' is that youwhen you change iginition or fuel maps, you need to upload it again to activat the new mapping.
If you would have an automated program, logging the WB data and creating new ign/fel maps and uploading them on the fly, it could work fine.
