Anyone have DIY electronics experience

I recently found out about JAW widebands and have been talking on their forums about DIY electronics. I'm thinking about jumping into DIY electronics with some car kits and was looking for some opinions from people with more experience with engine managment and such.

Here's a few links

JAW

Anyone have experience building and using these?

Last thing, while talking on the JAW forums about getting into DIY kits someone tossed me a link to a site selling DIY performance kits. They have everything from temp switch kits to boost controller, turbo timers and fuel adjusters...with a handheld controller. Anyone have experience using any of these? How do they compare to similar devices from the mass market companies?
