AFC II or haltech, microtech for hybrid turbo?
ive been looking around and i have seen a lot of people using AFC with there hybrid turbos. i was wondering how were the results. im going to eventually get a bnr stage III turbo and upgrade to a fmic. i was going to be setting the boost at around 12psi. i was wondering from experiences if i could go the cheaper route and just get a afc rather then spending a 1,000.00 on a standalone. i dont want to blow my motor thats for sure cause i wont have money to rebuild it. any feedback would be nice.
You could probably get away with just an SAFC, I know people do it all the time. But I think a Microtech would be a much better way to go. Not only would it solve your current problem, but it would also give you a really good starting point should you do further modification in the future.
At some point the SAFC isn't going to be enough, but at no point will the Microtech not be enough.
(Disclaimer for picky forum members: Yes, I realize that at some point there are things that people would want to do to a car that the Microtech will not do, however for the 1% of them I'm sure they will figure it out.)

Do it once or do it twice :-/
You will find that allot of the upper guys run stand alones and some of these people will say that no turbo car should be ran without one. I have been looking allot lately at this for my upgrades as well. Bottom line is AFC good for a NA or stage1 for bigger numbers you go with a standalone. What one? Find a tuner and ask him what one he wants to use then buy it.

Er, you'll need alot more fuel, along the lines of 4x720cc's or 550x2 and 890x2.
And a walbro is a must.
You can buy a Megasquirt for $300 or a quality used Haltech for $600.
Don't be cheap, otherwise youll be doing it twice (yay IceBlue!)

megasquirt is the JAM.... buuut, you are speaking of a setup my friend just got out of. he was running the hybrid s4 turbo.. 550 primaries and 680 secondaries i believe. would keep it around 11 - 12psi controlling everything with the safc. but any more than that and it's the stock ecu's bet of what is going to happen. no very safe. if you plan to do more later, then go ahead and do it correct now. get a god damn haltech
