Welded Diff?

Is welding the diff an okay alternative to LSD? i'll be going with LSD eventually.. but just needing to get rid of the 1 wheel peel.

I like welded fine. I've had it for almost three seasons now and am in no hurry to get an LSD.

only that sucks is running the smaller nonturbo axles and STUB SHAFTS wich are weak. ive been known to throw serious fits when the shafts break at practice events.

i looove welded though- - except for pushing the cars around...

i do have a tomei 2-way on the table, waiting

from my experience..

I have broken about 3 na stubshafts, and one na halfshaft.

I have broken 2 rear subframes where the diff mount bolt up to

I am on my third Na diff.

Ive been getting paid to replace diff mounts

I can swap t2 diffs without unbolting the stock dual exhausts by myself

I can swap rear subframes

Because of all this work I am now a master of the fc3s rearend. lmao

When a stubshaft snaps, the other piece is stuck in the na diff forever, and all the shards of metal will fck up the diff's bearings. You could pull out the broken stub piece and replace it, but your diff will wine and bearings will seize soon. True story, my diff seized on the fwy.

The key to keeping your na stub shafts and halfshaft and rear subframe diff mount tab in one piece is :
-make sure you have thick gear oil
-pinnion snubber
-no standstill burn outs with 18x9.5s and 255s with 35 psi
-no hard launches with low tread wear tires
-when you spin out, dont floor it , you will snap the stubshaft or halfshaft

Once you get going, you can clutch kick in the straight away to make up for not launching your car. I havent broken a stub axle doing that so far.

All this only applys to you t2 guys tho.. I really doubt a na stock na motor could break a stubshaft haha

I wish I was rich , Id get a kaaz or tomei 2way t2 rear end already..

I run a shimmed tII clutch type.

Refuse to run a welded.

People stare, people laugh. **** that. I still have one sitting in my basement, unused. Just incase someone wants to buy it or my clutch type ***** the bed.
