So this past weekend was a major bust. towed 5 hours to St. Louis for Street driven tour. I have wanted to rip this road course for a few years now so I was extremely excited to finally be able to drive there.
Got to check out some top notch pro am builds too, and a few FD cars up close and personal.
But as luck would have it, on my third lap I broke ANOTHER axle. Called all the parts stores, and nobody had on that day, the junkyard across the street had 3 rx7's but was locked up for 4th of july, and the only guy with a welder on site was out of gas.. major bummer to say the least.
but it was a holiday and I was around some of the best drivers on this side of the country so I learned alot from them, and got some rad ride alongs, from some of the MDU drivers, and in Chris Forsebergs insane M56 sedan.
Round 2 of State of Drift is two weeks away and I am buying two axels to bring with me so this **** dosent happen again like last year (and yes T2 diff swap is in the works because N/A axels suck *****)
on the plus side I have a pile of tires for that event now lol. here are the only photos of me on track from Street Driven Tour.
Fingers crossed the car holds up in memphis and I can break the three year running curse of having early day failures there.

What a crazy month this has been. First stop was Street driven tour where i broke down early but still had a great time!
Then the following weekend we went to a little grassroots day for some fun seat time, and tandem practice.
had to get the car clean of course.
It was a good time for sure, lots of ride alongs and great tandem! sadly there was only one photog there for half the day.
Also blew up a side skirt... should be fixed soon.
Then it was off to Memphis for State of Drift Round 2!
It was 100+ degrees all day... so dumb being in memphis in july... ice towels saved the day.
Qualified 12th, and gave away my top 16 battle due to the car shutting off for a split second on the first inner clip, on the big sweeping transition. Both runs this happened and it threw me way off line losing the battle. Thought it might have been fuel slosh but it only happened during those two runs, and never again throughout the day...
Still it was a rad day, got to hang with good people and run 8 car tandem trains at the end of the competition! hopefully pics of that surface soon.
After all that the car made it out in one piece! (mostly) time for some post event maintenance and to get ready for Round 3 in Knoxville. Gotta do well to stay in the points chase. currently sitting 8th in the series, with two event left.

UPDATE TIME!
Its been a busy few months for sure getting this stupid V mount setup installed (properly)
Against popular opinion, I purchased the Rotary Works VMIC kit for the car. I now know why the opinion was so popular. Long story short, we re engineered the kit almost entirely. the main brackets for the rad support, and oil cooler actually fit just fine. The IC brackets however were garbage. so we made our own.
Also got the KMR low mount power steering pump bracket as I wanted to keep my power steering for this setup.
And since the factory ps cooler loop had to be removed to make room for the rad, I installed a remote ps cooler
Tiny little thing, but should do the trick just fine
All this work was being done at my brother in laws shop Track One Motorsports.... needless to say I had some nice motivation to look at the whole time my car has been here.
Also decided to go dual caliper hydro setup. really wanted the hand brake to sit in the stock location, very happy with how its mounted.
Went with the racefab kit for the dual calipers.... long story short, get Stu Kelly's kit that uses Z32 calipers.. had I done that from the start, it would have saved us a lot of headache getting these fc calipers to work properly.
But its all installed now, and works great!
aaand final assembly photo!
looks pretty badass I think, filling it up with fluids tomorrow and firing it up for the first time in a few months, then immediately putting it on a trailer and going to Atlanta for FD, and the day after event. should be a good weekend as long as it all holds up!
side note. I got a cooler truck

Hot damn we got this thing on a race track today!
had an awesome test day working out all the bugs on the new setup, and holy **** did it make a huge difference. Water temps never got above 210 even while hot lapping all day long, which is pretty insane considering there is no ducting at all right now!
The hydro also worked like a champ, really the only issue that came up is the power steering pump is leaking a little bit, should be an easy fix. ready to get this thing to the body shop soon and make it pretty again!

Thanks man! and yes I did. I ended up not making the big show. "qualified" 18th and was paired up against Jonathan Narren... soo yeah a full on pro car making over 800 hp on his "low boost tune".. in my defense everyone said I pulled a gap on him in drift around the nascar bank (no idea how) and if I didnt spin on my lead run it would have gone OMT due to his big mistake on his lead run. its all good though, the car held up great and I somehow slung 250hp around a massive, steep as hell banked track. foot to the floor is an understatement haha had a blast, and im getting ready for round 2 in july

Video of said Lead run

also I broke both of my axles in one big clutch kick.......... the definition of insanity is starting to ring true... really need to step up my diff and axle game. thankfully good friends were on hand to go get the parts AND change them while I was in the mandatory pre comp drivers meeting
And the only good photo of me from the event so far.
Still beat up, but a new kit, some body work, and bash bars are on the to do list asap

yes. sooner rather than later.. its working so good right now though, so Im gonna skip that for round 2 of turismo. need bash bars, and body work..... because thats necessary and all. haha also gonna put a small fan on the IC to help prevent the minor heat soak its getting currently. its nothing major right now, but id still like to cool off the charge more.

ALSO... we were extremely lucky this past weekend, and were allowed to hold a private Road course drift day at the dormant Nashville Super speedway. this is the track I learned how to drive on, and nobody has ran there since 2011. to say the least, I was PUMPED! only had a few hours of clear skies and dry track though. almost the entire day it was torrential downpour, and you could only see about 15 feet ahead.. far from ideal drifting conditions. but good tandems were had, and a few smokey runs were made. the rain could not even come close to putting a damper on our good time!
Also picked up rallying.... not as cool as it looks in a drift car haha

Long time no update. Kinda hard to post updates when the car runs so good! been on a long tour of beating the hell out of it. Turismo round 2 was kind of disappointing. Felt SOLID during practice. got seeded 16th, and was knocked out in my top 32 battle in a OMT. Oh well, Round 3 here we come.
Then it was time for a redemption. Street Driven Tour St. Louis last year was a fail, after breaking an axle on my 3rd lap. Not this time! burned off 12 tires, and a tank and a half of fuel! that track is easily the most fun Ive had in a long time. super fast 8+ car tandem trains! Loved it!
No cool tandem pics yet sadly. Hopefully some pop up soon.
Then the following weekend, it was yet another road course day! Private drifting at the Super Speedway! I was clocked at 95mph average on my entries. Few friends of mine hit over 100mph that day, crazy good time, running 90mph tandems down the sweeper!
very few photos from the private day, but I got some good video instead... which is better right? right..
Time for a little break from it all. got the car back in the body shop to make it not all busted anymore. Should be looking like new again in a week or so, then its off to Birmingham Alabama for a very cool event on a go kart road course! cant wait, and will post updates as they come.
