slowgxl:RX-7 build

Whats up guys its late and i'm bored...always wanted to start one of these so why not here. Its a 1988 mazda rx7 gxl. Bought it at 99,XXX and slowly have been modding it to a drift car/daily. Still working on the drifting part...gotten better but i need more seat time. Okay enough talking now on with the pics!

When i got it...4x4 like a boss. Also had blown rear shocks and the trans mounts were blown to hell.

Put some kyb agx to at least make it ride better and then i got a good deal on some 18's

then i bought some ground control coilovers and camber plates that fit on to my kyb agx's. only pic i could find lowered with the 18's. kind of wish i went lower when i was on them

then i got bored of trying to drift on big heavy *** wheels...so i sold them. then i was on the hunt for some crown vic wheels. no luck on finding them but my two best friends picked up a set for me for christmas.

went a lot lower to pull the look off...now its so much funner to drift and drive! while i was doing all this i fixed the trans mount with polly ones. also changed my engine mounts too.

i also started to get bored with the look of the car...so i got a volvo lip from a junk yard for $5

happy with what i have done and now i just wanna keep up maintenance. plans are to get better at driving it/drifting it. do some bolt on mod like intake and exhaust(anyone got some one of these hit me up) also freshen up my diff and maybe weld it later down the road. oh and can't for get put on a badass aero kit.

some of my inspiration:

got a few parts in the mail this week. I got a used BOSS hub from japan and the seller was nice enough to send me some Japanese snacks too.

Also got the mazdatrix bump steer kit since my outer tie rods are going out.

So plans for the car
*Keep up with maintenance
*Get more steering angle out of the car (rx7 have shitty steering angle in stock form)
*Badass areo kit
*Basic bolt on to get some power out
*Get 4.30 gears for the rear end (then shim or weld it)
*And get as much seat time as possible

Oh and before i forget if anyone is selling a nardi or momo for a fair price hit me up.

Nice start! I'm also on crown vic wheels lol. Definitely go welded, you won't regret it.

I'm not overly fond of staggered diameters, but those do look good.

Mine's an '88 gxl as well! Got it running yesterday haha and there's already tire marks in my neighborhood

Are you planning on boosting sometime in the future? I'm also on an n/a glx, with coilovers, rb header/2.5in to stock-ish y-pipe and mufflers. I have a welded diff waiting to be slapped in but I just find myself wanting more mustard out of my fc...

Anyways good luck with it and its looking like a great start!

Rx7w/yaw: yes I plan on boosting it in the future. I agree it needs more power. But I do a mix of grip/drift driving so I don't mind. Learning how to drive in a underpowered car force you to try harder. Forces you to relie on your driving skills and not on your car.

I've learned the balance and powerband of the fc fairly well... I just get the feeling like I've gotten bored with it and I need more power. Don't take that wrong, its a great car and very fun, I just need to throw something else in the mix (I.e. port work, turbo, ls1... jk). Idk I prolly just need one good track session and I would know what I want out of the seven.
