Rebuild or new coilovers
So I think my Tein Flex are getting kinda worn. I've had them for about 5 years now and I was thinking about them sent in and rebuilt. But that can take up to a month and may cost extra if other parts need to be replace. So after talking with some friends and other people, I'm considering just selling them and going with something newer. The thing is I'm not sure what to go with... I was considering PBM or BC at first but also looking at a set of Cusco's on RHD Japan or possibly Fortune Auto. I'm not trying to break the bank (ie DG-5), but I don't mind paying a little extra. I want to stick with the 8/6 spring rate, and the car mainly sees street and daily duty but hopefully getting it back on the track soon.
Any suggestions?

I love my pbm pros. Miles better then the older style comps that most people on here run, the new pros are not retarded stiff and you can talk to dan and get the 8/6 springs in swift as well. they come in 8/10 but I honestly do not mind them and I drive the car around town 4 clicks above the lowest setting on the dampeners.
Took a gal on a shakedown last night in my car and got laid from them. true story

And well done sir.
shoot dan an email or call them. I am sure they would work with you.
I am still trying to figure out the differences in mounting the fronts.
You can mount them / - \ or I - I or \ - / If someone could explain that, I would be grateful. Also, these things go stupid low if you so choose

The PBM's are cool. They really are only GREAT if you're into DUMPING your car, which I'm sure you're not. You seem to have a very functional car, and dumping it would, well... not help.
I have the comps, and they're perfectly fine for daily driving/drifting. Although in comparison to my Tein Super Drifts/Winding Master/HE's or what ever, they definitely aren't as enjoyable on rough, sketchy roads.. Or even on relatively flat roads for that matter. I'm not bashing PBM, in fact I love their products, and coilovers. What I'm saying is they aren't for everybody.
Now onto price. I'm sure you can get your Teins completely rebuilt and in like new condition for about 1/2 - 2/3 the price of the PBM's.
It's really up to you whether or not it's worth it just to buy a different coilover.
I've been through 3 sets in the last year. Tein, Megan, and now PBM.
What I can say is they all have their ups & downs.
Tein-
Bad: Very limited height adjustment, very expensive, a tad soft.
Good: Best ride quality of the 3, Great build quality, reliability.

Megan-
Bad: Chinese, Limited options without spending $$$, typically last 1.5-2.5 years, dampening goes from "soft" to bouncy(haha), Kinda heavy(who really gives a ****),
Good: Decent ride quality, Cheap, Replacement parts usually readily available, easy to get ahold of, steel mounts(heavy, but durable), great camber adjustable range.

PBM-
Bad: moderately expensive(when compared to other entry level coils), very stiff, only 12 way adjustable, tacky aluminum mounts, caster built in(on comps. which Heavily limits camber adjustment), NO distributor backing(you have to buy from the one and only shop in San Diego)
Good: Lightweight, SEXY as ****, WOW factor, they go all the ****** way to SLAM-town, Decent ride quality, rebuild-able, Caster(if you're into that), decent amount of spring rates avaiable, when people ask what coils you run, you can say "POWERED BY MOTHA ****** MAX"

Yeah to have them rebuilt is about 500 for the set, and almost a month of down time. I could probably sell them and pay maybe a little more out of pocket for something brand new.
I was reading about the PRO line, and it seems they're valved to be softer and more comfortable.
I was also thinking about the Fortune Auto 500 series. Anyone have experience with them?

Most of the rest of my suspension is stock and on my "to be replaced" list, and on lowest setting for dampener on the pros, my car was bouncy as hell, granted i'm on stock wheels and balloon ****-tastic tires. Adjusted it up 4 clicks and it just hugs now, I have not set them all the way up yet.
Rice, I currently have mine set as you described. I just wasn't sure what the other 2 options would give me. I am guessing I - I would be more of a grip type application, but not sure.
Good info in here beach, thanks

But all of the valving options and spring rate options are really cool. Might do with 500s with Swift Springs...
I am in love with my Ksport Kontrol Pro's. love love love. i'm pretty damn low on 16's and my car handles awesome. The ride is bumpy but i have my preload set fairly high as well as dampening on full stiff..

Well I got my Fortune Auto 500s in today and installed. Didn't get a chance to do a test drive but going over a bump into my garage I definitely felt a difference. Can't wait to get it out and drive it tomorrow.

But so far I've had them on the car for a couple days and they feel great. Super smooth on the highway and not feeling like you're breaking your back over every little bump. Took it out drifting yesterday and the car did well. Was messing the the dampin adjustment to get it right, but overall it performed well. Would definitely recommend them to anyone who was looking for coilovers.
