fwiw, I've heard a handful of FC owners not like tien coilovers. mainly the super drifts I think. main issue was ride quality and performance, one person even went as far as to say that his k sports on his 240 rode better (which is saying a lot). Generally speaking though when considering all other makes and models, tien is usually very good but I have no experience with them in an FD. whatever you end up picking, try and get a consensus from drivers of the same chassis that have had them. best bet. Or just get stance as they seem to be great in everything. lol, srsly though.

Wow, with 240s there is a pretty big consensus on what's good...FCs seem to be a crap shoot. Everyone says something different.

I had JIC FLA2 for years and they were awesome

Lol, tell that to your tires and bumpsteer. I can slam my friends ride to the same rub height without removing collars....and he's on the new style. Those threaded sleeves are very capable of low low...

That's weird. I'm on 215/40's on 17x9 +17's up front with no problems. I'm also tubbed though, that might have something to do with it.

Bumpsteer, collars get in the way of being gangster.

I'm quite sure you don't understand how low the car is. unless your friend has like 50 series tires, there no way the coilovers are scrubbing tire with the collars still there.

& I'd much rather deal with bumpsteer than a 4x4 fc.

well I have been pretty slammed for a while now, and have felt no difference then when i was on teins with like a 2 inch drop. the lowness doesn't get in the way much. look at comic artist's pics, he obviously still handles business with tucked 17's

I prefer performance over looks/bumpsteer/rubbing anyday. Thats just me. But all I do is drift my car. It's not something I cruise the street in. Don't get me wrong. I love slammed cars and I respect what your doing. I just figured from my experience with buddy's car. I never woulda thought you would have to pull collars. Here's his ride nowhere near maxed out. Had lots of thread front and back.

It's prolly no where near as low as yours. But it's no 4x4. 17x8 0 offset(with spacers). 215/45.

I've never heard him complain of bumpsteer, or tires rubbing. But I've also never seen him drift other than pics. I know cars can perform great slammed. Look at George's or buckys FCs. They make it work. It's all on how you set up your ride for how low your gonna go.

honestly I wish I wasn't into the low thing, it's such a pain in the ***. But every time someone asks "how do you even get anywhere?" it gives me a warm feeling inside, as well as a sense of accomplishment hahaha

well a low FC is a low FC, and unless he has roll center correctable arms and all that mess, then we are in the same boat. & really the only bumpsteer i'm getting is forced by the damn tire hitting. with a smaller tire/smashed in fender well i'll be perfectly happy

It's really not that hard. If you weld/know anyone that can weld, you can knock it out in a day with a trailer fender. It's harder if you have to use sheet metal, but that's also doable.

This. I will say, having slid slammed S-chassis, a slammed FC is much easier to drive than a slammed s-chassis. But we also know that our suspension is far superior to that of an s-chassis as well : D

My tires rub on my fenders and the top of the fender well in the rear. That's mainly because I have them set up super soft in the rear so I get a bit of squat. Honestly, making a slammed car perform well is more about your preload settings than height. When most people slam, they just crank up the preload as much as possible, which results in being wayy too stiff and a lot of hop. To get max traction, you need your preload pretty low.

That, and you just have to learn to drive a slammed car.

Running bn aero. 18x9 -1 up front. car's sideskirts are sitting about a little under a centimeter from the ground daily driven... with super steering angle knuckles, shine auto foresight fender reps, mazdatrix steering spacers and no rubbing issues. get a sledgehammer and get to work. no rubbing anywhere from lock-lock. took a while to figure it out. just use spraypaint if you dont care about the under carriage and see where it's rubbing off and hammer it.

and fitting the 18's was alot more difficult than fitting 17's by far

I thought the opposite was true. Multi link (240) may have a lot more connecting rods/links and what not if you want to go super low and have it handle well but stock for stock, I think that a semi trailing arm setup isn't ideal. the thing with 240's is that you need more aftermarket links that are designed to be low. not unlike FC's extended ball joints/LCA's. my .2, I know that FD guys have called FC suspension, and this is a quote, "archaic". lol

The only thing I hate is FC rear camber and how the adjustability on a low car really sucks. we have to use the lateral link which changes pinion angle at the same time or the individual adjusters which, for drifters, break a lot I hear.

comic artist, did you have pretty bad spring binding and memory steer with your current or old pbm's? Mine is pretty bad if I have to turn like 90 degrees slowly and then straighten. I've put 10k miles on my pbm's but I guess the pillow ball is still just too stiff. I'll be putting a roller style bearing on both ends of the spring to resolve this but just wondering. pbm told me it would go away with some driving but I daily it and turn quite a lot and its still just as bad as when I first installed.
