Pop a rotary and there goes two months rent.....

I wont say anything else on the subject. Just wanted to stir the pot and watch people say dumb things.

theres alot more to it than that... i know. ive went through enough of them...
if your housing is fucked, you'll obviously have a screwed up rotor also. chances are you wont be able to find just one turbo rotor, so youll probably get stuck buying a set... ive had rotors from timing advanced so hard that the seal ridges have burn/wear marks into them, cracking the apex seal... obviously its not good. just saying.

i've never seen someone litterally crack an apex seal, and not have it eject... the only time you can get away with it being a minimalistic rebuild is if you have a sticking sideseal, or a breached waterjacket seal...

bump for stepping outside of the box. if everyone werent so closed minded you could look at it as one less person using the parts everyone is so sought after. not saying its better or worse, but he's not scared to try new **** at his expense, so you guys shouldnt knock that..

Yep. This worries me. If i didn't sell a GOOD block for $100, i'd probably keep doing the rotary thing. I will get back to it when i can financially commit my time and efforts towards completing an objective 110 percent. For me it's strong block, good tuning and a big ******* turbo on top of the pockets for gas. Fuel thirsty a rotary is.

i've never seen someone litterally crack an apex seal, and not have it eject... the only time you can get away with it being a minimalistic rebuild is if you have a sticking sideseal, or a breached waterjacket seal...

I've seen instances when something simple went wrong (that could have happened to anyone at any time) and they not only killed their turbo but cracked an iron, destroyed a housing, rotor, just everything. Looks like they threw peen shot down the intake. A soft seal rebuild is something i dont see being an issue but when you BEAT THE **** out of your car and are making some good power, it's not gonna be the case more often than not. A soft seal build that is....I'm not cut out to deal with that kind of frustration.

Thanks. I wouldn't say i'm stepping outside of the box or doing something new. This is far from new, just the road less traveled. I'm a car guy first. An rx7 owner last. I just like to drive and have fun driving. Anything that gives me that opportunity to do those two things as often as possible, i'm game for.

Thanks! Too bad it will be covered by a box, hopefully I can find some fire safe insulation to line it with to keep the pump noise down a bit.

I have built a couple VGdett's for sutomers. They make great power, ******* pathetic in terms of **** that can go wrong or leak. Not to mention they weigh way too much in Twin turbo form. Stock ring lands like to take a hike too.

I always talk about this **** with my work partner who builds and tunes some serious rotang. Its all in the tune, rotarys dont just eat seals for no reason. If you think oem ring lands can take a **** load of detonation, think again.

Find someone who knows how to tune.

Like i have said a million times. Rotarys are allergic to stupid.

I researched and weighed my decision before making it.

I've got this. You do what you please. I'll do what i please. K?

I appreciate the concern though. Glad you care so much.

Im not trying to make you get all butt hurt. Im glad your being different. But if you can find a good tuner, and keep your 13b, its so much easier. Doesnt matter what you build or do. If the tune is ****, your car is ****.

My car is **** regardless of tune. There's gonna be so much duct tape and jb weld involved in this....you just dont know. DGAF car.

I could send my ecu off to jwt, tell them what i want and burn 4th gear if i want but i'm lazy so i'll just download a basemap and tweak it to my needs.

I dont want to pay a tuner. I dont want to pay for dyno time.

BOTTOM DOLLAR BUILD. Rotary can die in a fire.....not while it's in my car, but it can die in a fire. DO NOT WANT. Lol. More power to people who have the patience and money to mess with em. I dont. I'm done.

Eh, i dont think it will be that ghetto but it's gonna be pretty "thrown together" in typical "**** it" fashion.

Goddamn right it is.

That way whoever is running chase gets fucked when parts of my car fall off and they smash into them.

It's a win/win no matter what.

You want to build a show car with a rotary engine in it and everything done up nice for the internet and smash all your expensive baller **** up, go for it. I'm not trying to impress anyone whatsoever.

You sound too poor or lazy to take pride in yourself and your and do it the correct way. You try to insult people for having nice cars just because you feel they are not worth your time, energy or money but it's only you who looks bad when you do so.

Btw aren't you always talking about doing baller **** to make your car stand out? Who's trying to impress who again?

I started driving/sliding alot and just stopped caring.

I'm not insulting anyone. I'm just saying you do whatever you wanna do and i'll do whatever i want to do. There's nothing wrong with having a nice car. Poor? Yeah. I'm eating ramen right now. I scraped change together to buy a black n mild and put gas in my car. Funds are low. If anything i'm re-thinking where i want to spend money on my car. Last time i checked it was MY CAR.....

To do it up big the way i'd want, i'd need another $6k, a lot of downtime (atleast 4 or 5 months working non stop) and at this point i will be so fed up working on this thing that i'd just buy something else.....

Thats me. Like it or hate it.

Whens the last time you slid your rx btw? My brother and I just went out about a half hour ago and drove the ******* ***** off the car and it was fun. FUN.
