try savin the scratch to get coilovers. Spring/strut combo's are the poop when it comes to drifting. You need to be able to adjust your **** and your lookin down the wrong road.

cutting corners to save time will take longer and being cheap will cost more.

coilovers come cheap as low 700's for the FC.

decent springs/strut combo is at least 500-600.

Your choice.

Koni/Eibach is the best combo, probably better than 95% of Coilovers you can buy anyway which have cheap shocks but look nice. According to many things I have read there are only a few companies that are actually worth a **** when it comes to shocks: Koni, Bilstein, Penske, Ohlins, and a couple of others. Anything else is most likely to be total crap.

No I am not a drifter, I race wheel to wheel/time attack or 'grip' I guess is the cool word for it

I had a set of the JIC FLT-A2's and swapped them out for a custom set of Koni double adjustable coilovers built by Tri-Point...the difference is literally night and day, and the JIC's aren't particularly cheap either.

Custom built does not count!!!!! lol. If I had the loot to have a custom set of adjustable coils built, I so would.

I rock Stance GR+ and love them!!!! Tien cant hold a candle to them, and they can be had NEW for roughly a grand. Add up the cost of DECENT struts/springs and your almost 3/4 the cost of coils.

Coilovers are rice when it comes to performance. They look good but they don't perform well. What do you have into your spring strut sleeves and camber/caster plates?

I think you can build the whole setup for about $3500...the real problem is the rear shocks as Koni does not sell a double adjustable rear, so you have to custom make it through Koni which is around $600/per shock.

If you went with a single adjustable Koni sport (yellow) rear and a single adjustable race strut insert with AWR strut tubes and camber plates at the front you could do it for under $2k, which is comparable to a 'high end' coilover. All those parts are available off the shelf and do not require any work.

But back to the OP, you should find some Koni shocks and get Eibach springs...it's by far the best setup for the $ despite not looking as cool.

Hmm, I might have to go that way next year. Right now I'm more worried about getting the 13b-re running.

Yes. I dare you to find anyone who runs road races competitively with coilovers. I'll wait.

I also remember seeing a shock dyno on the KSPORT units where full hard on one dampener was way softer then full soft on another.

there are always deals out there on rotary parts- u just got to look. most people get one, decide they don't have the time to keep up with it and sell all their stuff cheap. that's how i got my suspension, LSD, and 5-lug with upgraded brakes. ebay has good deals on stuff, but my best deals came from a rotary shop by my house.
