george's FC drift build. blowing upbody kits

I've been lurking on this forum for a long time but decided to finally start posting. I already know a few guys in the community but I typically have stayed to smaller forums. So here goes.
I drive an FC. It's low. Has a V8. And I do a lot of smashing. The story begins 4 years ago when I got tired of drifting 240's and wanted to get an FC. So I got rid of my old crappy 240 and got an FC! Attachment 717499 Original plan was to put an SR in it and keep it mild. That lasted all of about 12 minutes. First up, gut the car and build a chassis dolly. Attachment 717500 2nd, test fit S14 dash(stock FC one looks like it came from an IROC camaro). http://www.ziptied.com/Coppermine/al...8/IMG_7946.JPG Start the roll cage http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/IMG_7986.jpg Attachment 717501 Purchase LS http://www.ziptied.com/Coppermine/al...8/IMG_8002.JPG Keep working on cage http://www.ziptied.com/Coppermine/al...8/IMG_8012.JPG http://www.ziptied.com/Coppermine/al...8/IMG_8014.JPG http://www.ziptied.com/Coppermine/al...8/IMG_8018.JPG Then some shiny stuff came in http://www.ziptied.com/Coppermine/al...8/IMG_8044.JPG http://www.ziptied.com/Coppermine/al...8/IMG_8049.JPG |
Engine is in also wiring

More driving.
http://vimeo.com/6109461 Hard parking Attachment 717503 Then started running XDC 2010. Went to irwindale and did this. Bent the chassis but kept drifting anyway. Attachment 717504 http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/galle...l_img_5069.jpg http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/galle...l_img_5153.jpg Lost to Brian Peter. And got like 5th or something. Wen to RD2 in Vegas. Got 3rd. http://www.worlddriftseries.com/xdc/lv/part1/-1.jpg http://www.worlddriftseries.com/xdc/lv/part2/-26.jpg I drove like a billion local and socal events after XDC. The started prepping the car for 2011. |

2011 Prep. Step 1, buy cool wheels.
http://www.az240sx.org/gallery/12525..._2_1016047.jpg Check. Step 2. fix the front end after the irwindale crash forever ago. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/IMG_6132.jpg Check. Step 3. Take it to Elevens Paint And Fiber to have them do a TON of awesome work. Attachment 717505 Attachment 717506 XDC Irwindale 2011! Attachment 717507 http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/galle...l_img_1271.jpg Got 3rd place. Blew the steering rack in friday practice and tried to fix it with the help of JTP. Unfortunately the pump also blew. Ended up drifting Irwindale with no power steering. SCARY! I was still scraping walls tho. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2..._6950972_o.jpg Then went to XDC Phx. Ended up winning the event after a final battle with Alex Pfieffer! http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/galle...phoenix146.jpg Then I bought something I've ALWAYS wanted. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/IMG_7089.jpg |
Shortly after headed up to XDC seattle. Blew up my clutch and missed all of practice. Ended up getting taken out by Walker Wilkerson.
http://www.importmeet.com/wp-content...dc_2011_45.jpg http://vimeo.com/27888265 Still had enough points to win XDC West Coast Championship. Somewhere in there I also did the Vegas Pro-Am and got 1st in that series which gives me my FD license for 2012. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6187/...da72d7c0_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6080/...da6424c1_b.jpg Which brings us to 2 months ago and XDC Finals in TX. Car felt amazing in friday practice. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6166/...73b09c79_b.jpg Then saturday the motor decided to hate the rod bearings and ate them up. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6151/...811769a9_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6172/...81631c8f_z.jpg I qualified with another locals car(Aaron Losey) and was set to do top 16 when his alternator crapped out. 2 separate cars I had towed off the track that weekend. Ended up in 2nd place behind Chelsea Denofa. I was 1st in points going into TX but you have to actually drive the event to keep the lead. Sadly my car didn't want to play along so I got 2nd. It was super fun tho and I love drifting with the XDC dudes wholeheartedly. Which brings us to now. I have a non-sunroof 86 base model that is going to become the new 2012 FD car. Hopefully I can have some fun in FD. Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings! <3's and puppies, George |

Great setup, thanks for sharing.
|
Isn't Texas awesome?! haha
That is rad that Aaron let you borrow his car for the event. He puts on all the Texas drift events and is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. CONGRATS! |

your car is a thing of beauty, great thread, great build
|
niceeeeee
|
i heard you were going to raise your car and get hella front poke on the new setup? I heard this is how you make RX-7's good.
Truth??? |
He's taking queues from my FC :P
Hella-sunken rear wheels and stock angle |
you have more pics of your front end? radiator placement, light mounting, etc.
|
love the cage work. how thick are the mounting box plates and gussets?
|
i'll dig up some pics of the front end.
it's time to finally start working on this thing again and get it ready for next year. i ended up getting a new chassis to replace the old one since it's seen too much abuse. i picked up a 1986 base model WITHOUT sunroof! It has 67k original miles and looks like it drove out of a 1986 dealer showroom. interior pics. if anyone wants ANYTHING from the interior hit me up. I won't be reusing any of it. it's all pretty much perfect. seats had seat covers and so did the steering wheel. https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6117/...21d92121_z.jpg https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6108/...a3503fc5_z.jpg In the meantime I've been tearing down my old car. https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6104/...1056138a_z.jpg https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6033/...16e9fa31_z.jpg So far i've removed most of the engine stuffs and the rear subframe. I'll be doing a lot more work to the new chassis. dual calipers, 1900mm GT wing, evo brembos(with dual rears), shaved engine bay, wilwood or tilton pedal assembly, custom flca for lots more angle, and possibly a fuel cell of sorts. |
should be sick when its all finished you keeping it blue?
|
joined so i could say fuck yeah! next year will be fun, we had a great time helping with the car this season. Oxygen Blue for life! i like that color still we should keep it going
|
george hit me up with those dual calipers... i needz!!!!
|
Do you have any mods to counteract fuel starvation at speed? I know people usually use surge tanks, but I didn't see anything in your setup list.

Another night worth of progress.

A few more things to take out from the interior and it'll be going to the new owner. SOOOOO nice having a removable core support. Motor took 30 minutes to take out. And half that time was spent figuring out what song to play while pulling the motor. Also got me an upgrayedd. Evo Brembos. Extra pair for the rear on the dual caliper setup. Now to order that Wilwood pedal setup and delete the brake booster/master cylinder uglies. https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6058/...53376c31_b.jpg |
v= vitaly???

to run the evo rotors you need brackets to raise the caliper higher.
