Breaking in an LSD

I installed my Carbonetic Carbon 2way lsd, broke it in last night. Took it to a parking lot and did some figure 8's for 15mins or so, drove the car home, about 8mile drive, alittle spirited on the way back. Anyways I could seem diff fluid when coming to a stop, never noticed it during the break in, just on the drive home.... I crawled under the car, and the Diff was hot as hell!! Is this normal from a break in? I ended up rolling the car fore/aft for an hour then drained the fluid, which the diff and fluid was still hot.... Its sat over night and tomorrow I am going to add new fluid.

Is it normal for the temps to be hot from a break in? Or could there be some other issue?

what kind of fluid did you use?

when i bought my ATS Deftforce which is pretty much the same thing as the carbonetic, ATS told me to break it in with typical valvoline gear oil, after the break in to fill it with their fluid, in which case i just used redline gear oil since ATS oil is expensive. Mine never got super hot during break in. i was constantly checking it to make sure no leaks anywhere. might wanna call carbonetic and ask what they think

Carbonetic oil, which after talking to them a month ago they now use NEO, just slap there label on it, it meet their specs, and made is cheaper for us in the US, which works great cause thats all I use in my cars. And when I did speak with them about the break-in and oil, to use the Carbonetic/Neo.

I am planning on calling them tomorrow just to ask, but I figure the LSD is going thru a workout in the figures 8's so the high temps would be normal. But I guess I will find out tomorrow...

I know I will be up there anytime there is Karting events, and usually that coincides with drifting as well. However it will be fun getting the RX7 up their, I have trouble with my IS300, and my FD is atleast an inch lower, I am sure doing 5mph or less would help, LOL

Back to the thread, well I never got around to calling Carbonetic, filled her up with some fluid, drove it around a go 30-40 minutes, felt the diff, its maybe body temperature warm, so all should be good, I am sure the figure 8's like full locking for 15mins will build up some heat.
