Wax/Paint Problem

I have an interesting problem as far as waxing my car. It's original paint, black. When I go to wax it, after I take off the wax it leaves a yellowish film or residue on the paint that is a real pain to get off. I usually use turtle wax, and have good results with my other cars, but not for the fc. I've also tried a black turtle wax liquid, and that worked once, but trying it a second time the problem came back.

Any Ideas?

I'm going to assume you're not waxing in the sunlight.

That's really a mystery, but it could be caused by some contaminants binded to your paint. Have you ever tried using a clay bar kit on your whip?

Haha no. I sure hope it's not from aliens. Then it would be a real pain trying to figure this out. GG Corvallis.

Yeah I always wax under the shade and try to keep the paint temp. down. I'll try the clay bar idea and see if that helps. Not sure if it's cleared, but I think it is. I'll also pick up some different wax and see if that makes a difference.

Wash your car with Dawn to strip the wax, and start over.

But first, educate yourself...

Here are some steps you can try:

Materials required: Dishwashing soap (Dawn/Palmolive), some Clay (Medium Abrasive), Autoglym Radiant Wax polish (it is a sealer/wax, and also holds up great against the elements), Microfiber Wash Mitt, Microfiber Drying Towel/Chamois.

1) Re-Wash the whole car again with dawn soap (this will strip all the old wax). If you feel fallout, rough spots...go ahead and clay the whole car smooth. A car with a lot of fallout can make waxing a painful experience.

2) Clay said car. Fill bucket with soap and water, and use as lubricant for clay. Use a Microfiber Wash Mitt or Sheepskin wash mitt to wash the car properly.

3) Wash the whole car again to make sure the paint is smooth. (if any paint is oxidized, it will have to be polished with a machine and restored before you can wax it properly)

4) Dry car

5) Use Microfiber towels and apply Autoglym Radiant wax on the whole car, and buff it all out. It should work. Reason i prefer autoglym is also it also CAN work in the sunlight as well. But, if you have shade, that is most ideal.

If the paint is faded, or looks semi-dead, it needs to be restored first before you can wax it properly.
