Here is my method, works great..

Bucketless:

1)Spray car with a light rinse cycle on hose nozzle to knock off loose dirt
2) Mix 10 parts automotive soap with 1-2 parts water in a plastic spray bottle
3) Liberally spray car with the soap/water mixture from top to bottom
4) Lightly aggitate the soap with short spurts of water (makes foam run down the car)
5) Take a microfiber cloth and start at the top and wipe the car from top to bottom (I work roof, windshield, back glass, side glass, hood, trunk, fenders, doors, then bumpers) in that order ringing out the cloth/rinsing after each panel section.
6) Rinse the car with a strong stream from the hose making sure to blast the underside of mirrors, trim, etc anywhere soap can hide including a strong spray in wheel wells and undercarriage.
7) Open hood, doors and trunk and wipe the door jambs with the rung out towel/cloth
8) Dry door jambs with a microfiber towel and then dry the wheels/tires
9) Get a new microfiber towel and dry the car, working from the top to the bottom, ringing out the towel after each panel.
10) Dress the tires using Stoners More SHine on an applicator (not directly to tire)

Provides a flawless clean car..

That is my basic wash, takes about 40 minutes (unless I am washing my wifes Cooper S) Full detail with claybar and various wax removal/application takes about 4 hours.

Here's how I clean my rx7 :

1) Rinse
2) Wash with microfiber mitt (1 bucket soap / 1 bucket water)
3) Rinse
4) Remove water with water blade
5) Dry with microfiber towels
6) Clay bar
7) Rinse
8) Wash car a 2nd time using the same procedure as the first time
9) Wax

Time : 7 hours (I like detailing so I take my time + I’m a perfectionist aha) I do it about twice during the summer (I live in Canada so I only drive the car from May 1st to November 1st because of the snow...).

Products that I used for this wash:

Soap: Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash
Water Blade: California Water Blade
Clay Bar: Mothers California Gold Clay Bar System
Wax: Meguiar’s Gold Class Liquid Wax
Wheels: Meguiar’s Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner
Tires: Meguiar’s Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Spray + Meguiar’s Hot Shine Tire Foam
Interior: Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer

As you can see i’m sold to Meguiar’s lol. I’ve had a good experience with all of their products. I guess that some of you guys probably use professional stuff like Wolfgang or Pinnacle products but those are just too expensive for a student budget like mine lol…

Also, I’d probably have better results if I polished my rx7 however I’m not experienced enough to try it yet…

Tell me what you think

I have always hand washed. Waxed when I had the time and energy. But lately Ive been using ICE. Great because it goes on all over. No more different products for paint and rubber.
Seems to be working. Paint looks great for 26 years old.

One thing people dont understand, is that often people do more damage to their car by washing it because they never completely learned how to wash it properly.
Use the 2 bucket method with a grit gard
use a QUALITY mit (cant be bought from autozone)
dont put pressure on the mit when waching
never wash in a circular pattern
never wash in direct sunlight

that about covers it
