Cleaning the wax out of the nameplate letters?

I have heard some people say use a toothbrush, but I think a brush may be both too big and too hard.

A q-tip?

What do you use to get the wax out?

My car has wax from probably 20 years ago in certain cracks and crevices. I recently had to replace my left signal indicator and had to remove the taillight. Oh my god, it took some serious elbow grease and I wasn’t even using a soft cloth but an abrasive shop rag and I still couldn’t get it all off. I don’t think the brushes will work in every scenario.

Are there other, more aggressive options?

Could try rubbing alcohol or an actual wax and grease remover. If you step up the chemical to break down the wax you may damage the emblem itself and have to refinish it.. which isn't difficult anyway.

I did some reading after I asked you and found some interesting info about using an eraser to remove crusty old wax. I need to assess the car and see if I can make that work. I’ve got wax in door jambs and at the base of the hood, all sorts of little gaps...I’ll report back. Thanks bud.

Oh and to the OP: check out Duragloss Wax Eraser 481. It seems perfect for what you’re trying to do:

Amazon Amazon

It has a built in applicator and looks perfect for the windshield cowl or any other plastic trim that has some residue left behind.
