Anybody have some experience with This?
I hope I'm in the right place...
Had a problem a problem with my car so I was forced to park it for a little while and apparently my clutch master cylinder developed a leak or it had been leaking for a while and I just realized it. Long story short I removed and trashed the carpet, sound dampening "tar" and found some very depressing rust
. The rust seems, so far to be surface rust as I've been able to remove most of it with sand paper, a wire wheel, and a lot of patience. My question is do any of you guys who have experience with this stuff, or just body work in general, know what I should use to clean and prep the bare metal before throwing some self etching primer on there? Also does anybody know if this will do the job... Klean-Strip 1 gal. Phosphoric Prep and Etch-GKPA30220 at The Home Depot... I've had great success with phosphoric acid in the past when "restoring" the inside of my gas tank. As always any help is greatly appreciated thanks people.

I did the dry ice thing for the sound dampening, and just for the heck of it I tried the heat gun and spatula trick. For the record heat gun and spatula are faster but I prefer dry ice method (as I don't have a lot of patience they will both do the job though for anybody reading who might be wondering). The attached pictures are what I got done today got most of the rust removed and gotten most of it down to the bare metal. I'm still searching and reading about dynamat and sound dampening and keeping the heat out of the car, but for now would like to protect my floor from future rust. Thanks
Been a while since I posted back on here it's been a long recovery (surgery). Now that I've back to working on the car I can post more for anyone who is interested.

100% true over time in certain spots the "rust encapsulator" started to look like it was rusting through, I honestly believe it was something I did wrong during the prep not a bad product situation. So as of about a month ago its looking like picture one. So I will be doing POR-15 to "right my wrong". I had never actually heard of what you were talking about but last week I noticed a huge spot of nasty rust where the battery used to be, under the window motor, so I went back to eastwood contacted them and they recommended their "Fast etch" product and I saw the POR-15 starter kit on their site so I took a chance its only $20. Awesome results fantastic product and extremely easy to use. I'll also be using POR-15 on the bottom of the doors because the guy who painted my car just primed and painted over the rust he just left it there and, that's right, its eating right through the paint so I started the process today on my driver door. Pics included
Destroyed my carpet too, it was a leaking clutch master cylinder that caused it. If my carb wouldn't have started acting up and I hadn't parked the car to do some work I probably wouldn't have noticed for a while longer I couldn't smell anything strange or see it because of the floor mats that I had
