What I like about the Deals Gap event.... (last years attendee)
What I like about the Deals Gap event and why its different from other events..
There are several reasons why I wanted to have this event last year.
At one point, I tried to attend as many rotary event as possible.
I've drove from AL to RX7store gatherings in Columbus, OH
Me and John (20B 3rd Gen) drove all the way from AL to IN for the 1st Rotary Revolution.
Half of AL rotary owners to 2nd annual RR
Me and Leo (AbadR1) drove up to Maryland for NE gathering.
Me and Stephen (SPOautos) drove to Tampa, FL for FL gathering
Ton of rotary gatherings in TN and GA....
5 Bham rotary owners made a trip to TX to visit Steve Kan..
By travelling and meeting fellow rotorheads in person, I've got to know some of you well and became good friends.
But unlike most events where you park your car and stand around all day and leave, this event will make you drive your car. Not only that, you could ride in other peoples car to see how they do. Another great thing about this event is that its all about cars. There are no distractions as there are no places to go (nearest city is 15 miles away... and its tiny!).
Well, I would like to hear from those who attended last year, what you liked and what you disliked about the Rotaries @ Deals Gap!

What I liked and why it was different -
Meeting everyone and everyone you met was friendly. The cars, what else can you say. I can hardly imagine what it's going to be like this year with so many people coming!!! Driving up there and back was actually fun and of by all means driving the Dragon just plain kicked ***. The weather was about as perfect as you could ask for Saturday and Sunday. The countryside was beautiful, even for early spring. Drinking beer and watching Joe Dirt (I'm your sister! I'm your sister!) with all the RRDI crew Saturday night!
What I didn't like -
The damn thing was over before I was ready for it to be!!! Honestly about the only thing I didn't really like was not getting more drive time in on Saturday since we started kind of late and I spent so much time hanging out and talking to people all day (my bad). Getting sunburned on my face from driving with the top down all weekend even with a hat on, most of it on the ride home Sunday.

Meeting up with a number of people I might not have had the chance to otherwise.
Getting to see people I hadn't seen in quite a while.
The absolute freedom I felt in being able to simply DRIVE the car as it should be.
Being a part of things by writing last years RX Tuner article
Dislikes:
Not long enough (no fault of the event...I just like to drive!)
Car problems I had on the way there
Embarrassing myself by running out of gas almost as soon as we started...(bad gas gauge)
Getting a ticket on the way home
Looking forward to:
Doing it all again (the good parts)
Being more a part of things by helping to sponsor the event this year
Seeing Phil and everyone else again.

Rotary Freak
The most fun I have had driving my car for years, was last year at this event.
And I always like socializing and meeting rotorheads I haven't met before. Great to see the many rotorheads I already know also
Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Location. World class road with great views. Doesn't get much better than that.
Getting to match some faces with forum names.
Getting a couple rides with Reese in the 20B10AE since my FC was down. Thanks again Reese!

Disliked:
Not having "Hello, My Forum Name Is: ____" tags.
My car blew a coolant seal 2 weeks before the meet.

I believe if people want longer runs at the Gap, better to go there Friday early and get a few runs in. I believe it is going to be hard to get any longer runs than last year, considering there will be twice the amount of people this year.
Just be careful driving the Gap it is a dangerous place to drive crazy. I keep telling myself that, but it is so hard. I am filled with so much excitement, I mean how many times do you get to drive a 11 mile road course! Be safe and know your limits!
