My Friday Morning drive...
Well, This is what I'm thinking about doing on Friday Morning.... Again, this is NOT part of the event.. just my personal drive for Friday.. You guys can follow this map and do it on your own.

Link to Google Map with Directions = http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...97435&t=h&z=11
A = NVNC
B = Fontana Dam
Distance = Approx. 137 miles
This will cover pretty much the best roads in the country... Part of 'Hell Bender - US28' (good warm up), Skyway with 5000ft elevation change, and finish towards the end with 'Tail of the Dragon' and best part of 'Hell Bender'.
I was going to leave around 8AM and get to the Dam around 12:45PM... Early 30 min to an hour lunch around 11AM and fill up with gas at the main town.
We'll stop 2-3 times on the Skyway... for 5-15min each.
Again, this isn't set in stone as I have to see how much I get done on thursday and if volunteers are ok with me doing this... Also, this will be a fairly fast paced run...
***This is NOT part of DGRR!!! I'm just giving you what I'll be doing Friday morning - Informational Purpose ONLY!!! You are responsible for your own action***

Sure don't Eddie! As of now several have shown interest in this drive...
Also, its pending if I bring the Cosmo or the FD.. I don't want to do this drive with the fat Cosmo.. so, I'll do this if I'm in the FD... as of now 50/50. Otherwise, I'm sure you could do this with others... Many are interested..

How long will this drive be? Be back mid-afternoon Friday? I *should* be down for it (i'm planning on getting to The Gap mid-afternoon on Thursday). I *may* have a hard time keeping up in my FB.

Speed limit is 45 I believe. Cherohala Skyway is like the Blue Ridge Parkway but with less traffic. I ran it a couple of years ago on a Friday morning at EECMM 09 and there was almost no traffic, avg speed must have been 80. Saturday and Sunday the traffic will go up considerably, so we are lucky to be doing it Friday Morning. THe best time for hauling *** on any of these roads is at night, you can push harder and lift if you see oncoming lights. The oncoming lights give you a heads up that you don't get during the day.
We should stop by Bald River Falls on our Friday drive. It's 3-4 miles off the Skyway and is worth the trip to get a photo of your car on the bridge with the falls in the background. This photo was taken at Dragon Camp last October. There will be more water going over the falls since it's spring rainy season.
